Christ Arose

Posted under Christianity & Site Issues

Happy Easter from Conservative Heritage Times.

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose!
Hallelujah! Christ arose! ~ Robert Lowry 1874

Lawrence Auster in Poor Health

Posted under Site Issues

We have had our differences with Lawrence Auster. In fact, you couldn’t have much interaction with him without having differences. That said, we are sad to hear that his cancer has taken a turn for the worse. There is a prayer vigil scheduled for him on 13 Jan. See the link for details.

Merry Christmas from the CHT Writers to all our Readers

Posted under Christianity & Site Issues

Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born

While shepherds kept their watching
Over silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light

Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born

The shepherds feared and trembled
When lo! above the earth
Rang out the angels chorus
That hailed the Savior’s birth

Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born

Down in a lowly manger
The humble Christ was born
And God sent us salvation
That blessèd Christmas morn

Go, tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go, tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born.

Lyrics by John W. Work, Jr.

Lighting Things Up at CHT

Posted under Site Issues

All this talk of economic implosion, cultural decline, PC thought police, declining electoral prospects, etc. is making me depressed. I thought I would try to lighten the mood around here by occasionally posting on some non-political subjects and see if I can gin up some conversation and liven things up a little. We’ll see how it goes. It they fall flat, I’ll stop. If they engender discussion I’ll keep it up. Expect the first example soon. Suggestions for off topic threads are welcome.

James Hall Published at InfoWars

Posted under Media & Site Issues

Congratulations to our friend James Hall, who we have published here before. An article of his has just been published by InfoWars. I’m sure some of our readers will roll their eyes because Info Wars is overtly conspiratorial, but InfoWars has huge reach. Check out their traffic stats. One article at InfoWars will get seen by more people than 10 articles at some othere sites in our orbit.

Bob Taft, R.I.P.

Posted under Site Issues

Today I got an odd e-mail from a member of an e-mail group I have been part of for many years. It said “Farewell” and that he was moving on. I assumed this to mean he was leaving the e-mail group, but I clicked on the link he provided, and it appears he has passed on. I presume he had prepared the e-mail in advance with instructions to send it when he passed.

I never knew Bob Taft personally, I only knew him virtually. But he always had thoughtful comments even when I didn’t agree with him. The e-mail group will be the lesser without him. May he rest in peace.

Update: One of the members of our e-mail group sent out this remembrance of Bob. I sometimes have a hard time keeping straight which person represents which position, but this illustrates where Bob was coming from. I will repost the tribute here. The name of the e-mail group has been removed for the sake of privacy.

Farewell Bob Taft,

A Great American, Robert Bent “Bob” Taft passed on New Year’s Day. He embodied the wisdom and integrity that his family name signifies. The two most significant teachings that Bob championed is that the Articles of Confederation was the true fruits of the American Revolution and THE TUN – THE SYSTEM OF TENS AND HUNDREDS.

Exodus 18:21 is the cornerstone of a true representative republic. Bob Taft taught this lesson as no other. His memory as a saga of rigid individualists is an inspiration for all who knew him or had the profound privileged of interaction over the internet.

The __________ Yahoo Group reached the highest of intellectual discovery with the contributions of our dear friend and colleague.

Thanks God, a concept that Bob would wrestle with, that he walked among us and that his timeless insights live on in the archives of the __________ Group.

No one can replace Bob. The task for those who still survive is to share his brilliance with the rest of the world.

Safe journy on leaving this crazy “mudball” . . .

My New Years Blogging Resolution

Posted under Media & Site Issues

Of course tomorrow I’m starting my diet and exercise routine (I didn’t start today because I was on the road.), but I am also resolving to change my internet and blogging habits. I have long known this, but it is becoming increasingly obvious to me that I spend way too much time on internet sites arguing with knuckleheads, mostly about Ron Paul and foreign policy. I do think it is important for paleo-oriented conservatives to show up on mainstream conservative websites and represent our perspective, something I have in the past called “missionary work,” but I end up getting sucked into debates with people (often the same people) whose minds’ I am never going to change. Once I’m sucked into one of these battles I have a hard time letting go. I think every point needs a counter point, etc. But the potential audience for this is limited, and it is often the same people. Again, I think it is important to represent our perspective, but the people we are representing our perspective too are not the hard core ideologues who think Iran is within minutes of finishing a nuke which they will then immediately use to bomb Israel and America. Such people, barring Divine Intervention  or some sort of an epiphany, are beyond hope. The people who might be swayed our way are readers who are on the fence or not already dug in. I doubt these people follow all my counter point rebuttals. Also, when I reply to a blog I’m usually originally replying to the author of the post, not all the commenters. It is the author I wish to reply to.

So I say all that to explain my resolution. Starting today, I will continue to reply to posts and articles I disagree with, but I will do so here. I may often post the reply I write here in the comment section, but my main thrust is going to be posting here. For a model, hopefully my blogging will look something like Daniel Larison’s blog at The American Conservative.

I have made half-hearted attempts to try this approach before, but I get sucked into these comment wars in spite of myself. I resolve to no longer do so.

Thoughts?

Harrison Bergeron Has a Movie About Him!

Posted under Culture & Movies & Site Issues

Our own “Harrison Bergeron” has a movie coming out about him called 2081. Who knew?

Watch the trailer here.

In all seriousness, I hadn’t heard anything about this. It just popped up as an add on my Facebook page. Apparently it is already on DVD so it must not have had a major distributor.

Addendum: I just learned that the film is only 25 minutes long, so that would explain why there was no wide theatrical release.

Yours Truly is Now a Constitution Party Correspondent for Independent Political Report

IPR is a leading website for third party and independent news. This is a good opportunity because IPR gets a lot of traffic and has a pretty low (high) Alexa rating (72,000ish).

Lincoln is Da’ Man and Strauss is my Homeboy

Posted under Site Issues

Hello, my name is Harry Jaffa. I would like to thank my good friend Remesh for inviting me to contribute to his new blog. I have been looking over the blog, and the current bloggers are talented writers, especially that Red Phillips fellow, but they are hopelessly backwards looking. Their conservatism is too tied to history, time, place and people. As Strauss taught me, this is a bad thing and is probably even crypto-Fascists. This is the year 2010. Who has time for backwards looking conservatism anymore? What this site needs is a good dose of progressive, forward looking conservatism. The kind of conservatism that celebrates universal human rights and liberal democracy uber alles, and recognizes the unique role of America as Redeemer Nation. We must finish the project Lincoln started by bringing these Enlightened virtues to all the benighted masses of the world, at the point of a gun if necessary. You know what they say about not being able to make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. I look forward to blogging here frequently and straightening these guys out. Their hearts are in the right place, but they have obviously never received the proper indoctrin… err… I mean education.

By the way, that “Red” Phillips needs a new nick name. “Red” makes him sound like some hick from flyover country. How is he supposed to appeal to bi-coastal elites with a moniker that conjures up images of overalls and coon hounds? I’ll have a little sit down with him and get him right. Otherwise he seems like potential “in group” material.

CHT Sold: The New Conservative Heritage Times

Posted under Site Issues

It is with pleasure that I announce the recent purchase (for an undisclosed amount) of Conservative Heritage Times, which I intend to use as my personal blog.

Current bloggers will retain their posting privileges (for the time being), but there will be a few changes to the site. The pictures at the top will be replaced by photos of Gandhi, MLK, Linda Chavez, Michael Steele, and hip-hop Republican Cleo E. Brown. There will also be a few philosophical changes to the site:

(1) Abortion now may only be criticized through the lens of racism (such as “abortion is racist”) or via an appeal to universal human rights.

(2) No criticism of immigration from the Third World, especially from India, will be allowed, but we may relish the downward trajectory of European Americans.

(3) No criticism of nation building or foreign interventionism will be permitted.

(4) All European fascists – such as Jean Raspail or the BNP – must be condemned.

(5) No criticism of free trade will be tolerated.

and

(6) The interests of the Third World should be put before those of the U.S.

That said, these changes will not affect the general tone of the site.  I look forward to bringing this website toward a truer, purer conservatism.  Now let’s blog!
