The Obama administration is threatening to use Executive Orders to further dismantle the Second Amendment. Democratic Senator Diane Feinstein (CA) is set to introduce a draconian bill to ban “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines, among other things, later this month. Between the two, they are intent on turning otherwise law-abiding gun owners in the South and elsewhere into outlaws with the stroke of a pen.

But won’t these law-abiding gun owners comply with the new “laws?” Won’t they dutifully register their “assault weapons” with the authorities and submit to other restrictions on buying, owning, and transferring firearms? Some will but many will not. They will instead become outlaws.

In the last month, millions of Americans have bought millions of weapons and over a billion rounds of ammunition. They are not buying these expensive things in order to register them or turn them in to the gun grabbers at some point in the future. They are buying them to defend themselves, their families, and their property from whomever might threaten them. And at present, the biggest threat is the U.S. government itself.

The League of the South, the premier Southern nationalist organization, will not comply with any diminution of our God-given right to keep and bear the sort of arms a free people need to remain free. This means “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines. Moreover, we will view any attempt to deprive the Southern people of these tools as a criminal act by a criminal regime.

The Southern National Congress is a deliberative body designed to provide Southerners with a forum to voice their authentic concerns regarding the South’s continued cultural life, prosperity, and distinctive existence. The Southern National Congress provides a means of expressing Southern goals, grievances, and solutions, in an open manner not presently existing anywhere else in the public sphere. This is being accomplished within a framework conducive to the complete independence for our southern States.

The Southern National Congress is an organization of volunteer Southern citizens whose objective is to effect the freedom and independence of the several Southern States and their People so that they may restore their historic traditions of self-government and ordered Christian liberty.

Why the SNC?

Today’s public institutions–political, financial, and cultural — have become increasingly alienated from the Southerner in his identity as a Southerner. The Southerner and the Southland are becoming mere commodities, useful one day, to be discarded the next.

This is because the political, economic, and intellectual systems that exist in these united States today are destructive of those who will not stand for themselves. The old institutional protections that in the past provided some protection for the people, their identity, heritage, and welfare, have been allowed to decay into nothing. The South must stand independently as a distinct nation, people and culture – or cease to exist.

The League of the South has a message all freedom-loving Southerners ought to hear. It is the message of Southern independence from a sinking, corrupt, and destructive government in Washington, DC. When our people hear this message, they usually react positively to it. After all, no one in his right mind wants to go down on an obviously sinking ship.

But how many of them never hear our message because the liberal media either ignores us or presents a very distorted view? As much as we hate to admit it, our organization is still unknown to most Southerners. Why? One reason is the clutter of mass information—we get buried beneath the crush of topics that dominate both the conventional news cycle and the internet. Another is the nature of our message. It is unpopular with the “powers-that-be,” including the news media; therefore, it is ridiculed, marginalized, or simply ignored. But perhaps the main reason we remain under the radar is the lack of funds to advertise our message.

The League of the South Board of Directors has approved a major publicity campaign. It will take money to do a test run of this project. Though we are not yet at liberty to divulge all the details of this project (mainly because we think our enemies would try to prevent it), we are to the point where we are ready to raise the money to fund it.

As President of the League, I am asking for at least 50 members or supporters to pledge $30 quarterly, $60 semi-annually, or $120 annually to this test project. Our ultimate goal is to raise $6000 ($1500 per quarter) over the next 12 months to put this publicity campaign to a real live test run.

You can make a quarterly or semi-annual pledge (for which we will send you a “coupon book” as a reminder of your pledge) or you can simply make a one-time annual donation for the amount you wish to pledge. Anything we raise over and above the necessary amount will be placed in a special fund to help with the continuation of this project.

Though initially we are running a test (which we will be able to closely monitor), we believe the project has merit and thus will prove successful in getting us out from below the radar and into the eye of the Southern public. I am asking you to make a pledge today. Once we have the necessary funds committed and all the plans in place, we will announce the launching of this important project, first to League members and supporters and then to the general public.

If we fund and plan it well, the project will draw a great deal of attention to our message.

Florida To Hold Independence Conference

(Jacksonville, Florida) The Florida League of the South is pleased to announce its Annual State Convention to be held on Saturday, 26 May 2012.

The voluntary Union of sovereign States given us by the Founders is now a dead thing of the past. An alien class and ideology that are completely hostile to our historic way of life now rule the South that you call home. However, don’t expect an appeal to the Constitution or to common decency to stop the criminal class from further terrorizing the land.

The theme of this year’s conference is “The Only Alternative”; a three part educational strategy and will be held at the Jacksonville Public Library, West Regional Branch Conference Center, 1425 Chaffee Rd., S. in Jacksonville, Florida

With the tremendous growth and national press coverage of the League of the South as the largest “States’ Rights” organisation in existence, the League has become a recognised leader in the effort to restore liberty here at home. If you’re ready to take a stand, we urge you to join us for this refreshing meeting of liberty-minded Floridians.

Attendees will enjoy the slate of speakers for this year’s event including Dr. J. Of course this isn’t news to CHT readers, but here is the official release of the Constitution Party:

Former Virginia Congressman, Virgil Goode secured the Constitution Party’s nomination for president at the party’s National Convention Saturday, April 21st in Nashville, Tennessee. Goode was one of six candidates vying for the spot. He won on the first ballot.

Goode served 24 years in the Virginia Senate. He was elected to Congress in 1996, succeeding L.F. Payne. Goode left the Democratic Party to become an independent before the 2000 election and then joined the Republican Party ahead of the 2002 election. Goode was unseated in 2008 by Democrat Tom Perriello. Though he undoubtedly could have regained his seat in 2010, Goode opted instead to join the Constitution Party to help provide a real alternative for the average American voter.

Goode said he plans to attract voters such as Democrats who are dissatisfied with President Barack Obama and Republicans who don’t align with presumptive nominee Mitt Romney’s policy positions. “Romney’s and Obama’s positions are not all that different. There’s not much distinction,” Goode said. “My position would be significantly different from either of them.”

Phillips Retires After 37 Years of Leading The Conservative Caucus

Howard Phillips, founder of The Conservative Caucus (TCC) and its Chairman since 1974, has resigned, saying that recent health problems required that he “direct my energies on my health, my family life, my spiritual priorities, and my writings.” He affirmed his gratitude “for the opportunities God has given me to work with such fine people and I remain wholeheartedly supportive of the important work and mission of this organization.”

Phillips, now 70, led TCC through successful battles to block ratification of the SALT II Treaty, begin the SDI missile defense program, repeal the Catastrophic Coverage Act, prevent passage of Hillary Clinton’s socialized medicine scheme, and persuade the House of Representatives to impeach President Bill Clinton.

He visited all 50 states in campaigns against the Panama Canal treaties, SALT II, and the nuclear freeze. He also held organizational meetings in all 435 congressional districts during the early years of TCC.

His leadership in TCC’s Victory Over Communism project included support for anti-Communist freedom fighters in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, repeal of the Clark Amendment, Congressional approval of the MX missile, a 600-ship navy, and even a visit to Eastern Europe and the Baltic states as the Soviet empire began to show signs of collapse.

Phillips is a graduate of the Boston Latin School and Harvard, having served as President of the Harvard Student Council. He was one of the founders of Young Americans for Freedom.

Prior to founding The Conservative Caucus, he was Republican Chairman of Boston and campaign manager for Richard Schweiker’s successful 1968 Senate campaign in Pennsylvania.

During the Nixon administration, Phillips headed the President’s Council on Youth Opportunity and the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO), and won nationwide conservative acclaim when he attempted to eliminate the OEO programs.

The Constitution Party (originally named the U.S. Taxpayers Party) nominated Phillips as its candidate for President in 1992, 1996, and 2000.

TCC’s Board of Directors expects to choose a new Chairman early in 2012, with Darrell Castle serving as interim Chairman. Castle was the 2008 Vice-presidential nominee of the Constitution Party.

In the wake of the League’s 17th annual national conference, we believe it is time to restate the obvious for those who still don’t “get it” yet: the US government in DC is an organized criminal enterprise. Despite being founded on the “principle” of limited government, it has its tentacles in virtually every aspect of our lives all over our beloved Southland. It has become Godless and is rapidly approaching bankruptcy. Something must be done quickly to free us from this monster.

Don’t tell us to wait until the November elections—the GOP is not our savior. Rather, it is only the other side of a counterfeit coin. After all, who started this corrupt bailout business in September 2008 in the first place? Obama was merely a candidate at the time, though he has certainly continued to advance the Bush policies of allowing the banksters to continue their crime spree unabated.

with their Presidential candidate choices, just before Hillary Clinton
dropped out of the race and now a new website offers yard signs, buttons,
bumper stickers, and clothing that states “Both Obama and McCain stink/suck!”

“I do not like either of the top Presidential candidates and I know
that a large number of Americans agree with me on this,” said William

radio show. “I’m sick of the lesser of two evils game and regret that
we have to pick between two poor candidates who are both DC insiders

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – According to the New Hampshire State Republican Party and an Associated Press report, Republican presidential candidate and Texas Congressman Ron Paul will be excluded from an upcoming forum of Republican candidates to be broadcast by Fox News on January 6, 2008.

“Given Ron Paul’s support in New Hampshire and his recent historic fundraising success, it is outrageous that Dr. Paul would be excluded,” said Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Dr. Paul has consistently polled higher in New Hampshire than some of the other candidates who have been invited.”

Snyder continued, “Paul supporters should know that we are continuing to make inquiries with Fox News as to why they have apparently excluded Dr. Paul from this event.”

Chris Brunner of Lew Rockwell says don’t contact the NH GOP. It may not be their decision. It appears that it is Fox News’ decision.

It’s abundantly clear to anyone not sunk deep in denial or who is not a shill for the Washington regime that today’s political system does not represent the American people or the national interests. It doesn’t obey the Constitution, the law, decency, or common sense. The regime has riveted the attention of the people on the raucous Presidential contest between Republicans and Democrats. But this race is a charade, and the supposed two-party system is an illusion. In reality, there is only one party – the party of the lawless, corrupt, centralized state. The GOP and Democrats don’t represent real alternatives, they are merely rivals for power fighting over who gets the spoils. Both major parties and their principal candidates have prostituted themselves to Big Government, special interests, the money cartel, and corporate oligarchs.

Whichever candidate wins will not even slow, much less halt, America’s steady decline into an empire that is ‘aggressive abroad and despotic at home,’ in the prophetic words of Robert E. Lee. None of the leading candidates or parties respects the South and our particular culture, values, and interests. They only use us as cannon fodder for their endless wars and as political fodder for their phony campaigns. We Southerners need to begin to take responsibility for our own welfare, and that’s the purpose of the SNC. – Thomas Moore
