I would recomend that all read “Land Patents” at http://www.teamlaw.org The Lakota would be wise to do the same. The reservations are not “their land”. It was obtained by war powers act The native Indians are recognized as soverign peoples; yet the land (reservations) are USA, Inc.

If they will obtain land, activate the Land patent on it (US Supreme Court have never over ruled a properly accepted land patent) then make this land their national land,…I could see it working…

I really have nothing against the Indians- it’s the cultural Marxist “historians” and politicians who claim to represent them I despise. I have anscestors who fought the Indians and I am proud of it, and I am an admirer of the Conquistadors, Andrew Jackson, and other people they wouldn’t like. But I really don’t see them as posing any particular threat anymore.

Is this for real? I live in North Dakota and there’s no word of this in the local media.

The reservations obtain millions in aid from the Federal government every year. They get free houses, education, scholarships, etc. They want even more. They want everyone else to move out of the states they are in and “give it all back” to them.

Russel Means is a bigot and doesn’t represent all the Sioux tribes anyway.

I am worried about yet another manifestation of the “multicultural” trend.
What this country needs is unification, as one culture–not a repeat of the fragmentation, and social chaos of the 1960′s.
The Bush administration’s emphasis on giving what belongs to Native Americans, black people, poor whites, Mexican-Americans, and other disenfranchised groups, to Mexican nationals, is directly responsible for the Native American revolt.
It would be far better if Native Americans joined with us in the Second American Revolution, to preserve our Union, and the strength of our nation.
The reality of multicultural identity politics, exposes the danger of promoting a multicultural mish-mash of peoples.
Real Americans understand that we must remain one culture, subordinate to Western Civilization, and culture.
We are a land of the cowboy and Indian–not drive-by shootings, and gang-bangers from Mexico, and Central America.
We are not a dumping ground for failed nations of the world.
We cannot give this land away to foreigners.

That’s pretty much the gist of Jefferson’s argument in the Declaration of Independence. Why shouldn’t it work for the Lakota, who probably have even more grievances to justify their secession?

Good for Russell Means and the Lakota people. Can there be an argument made that now that the government no longer keeps its treaty with the American people (the Constitution) we have the right to secede?

Lincoln’s argument against Southern secessionists was that their grandpappys had acceded to the Union, and that somehow bound them and their posterity to DC forever.

But no one ever asked the Indians if they wanted to be ruled by DC.
