Oh boy! Brace yourself for the warmongering and the bloodlust. Given that so many people are itching for a reason to bomb Iran, this news must be greeted with extreme skepticism.
Update: Surprisingly, this revelation is meeting with some skepticism from conservative Obama and Holder opponents who would otherwise likely be inclined to believe it. Holder is being subpoenaed today by Congress about his role in the Fast and Furious scandal, and many see the timing as suspect. The Pres has apparently known about the alleged plot for months.

must be greeted with extreme skepticism.
Absolutely, and I read that Obama was briefed on this in June. Also, it sure is convenient that it was announced by Holder on the same day he is being subpoenaed on Gunwalker.

Sounds like another US government plot where all the plotters other than the designated mark were US government agents. Usually it’s the FBI that pulls these off, but this time the DEA got in on it too. But the stakes are higher this time since the mark is accused of being an agent of the Iranian government and some are already advocating bombing Iran to retaliate for this “act of war”. This goes beyond saving Holder’s butt to aiding Obama’s election campaign in general. Hillary asks “Who could make this up?” I can think of a lot of people, not excluding her.
BTW, the DEA informant who spun the web which trapped this mark is said to have been deeply involved with cartel related criminal activities himself. Raises the question of whether the US has gone beyond just arming the cartels to using them to some extent as surrogates. Some of that drug money may be making its way into the pockets of the US rulers in ways yet to be revealed.

“According to this official, the alleged plan was orchestrated by the Iranian government and involved a plot to kill Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi ambassador to the United States.”
Seriously? 9/11 this ain’t.

If you can assassinate an American citizen on foreign ground, I guess, well, I am confused–why is this a crime again?

Let’s not forget that Ahmadinejad is behind the real estate bust, the Great Recession and the sovereign debt crisis as well. He’s probably feasting on a little blond toddler in pig-tails even as we speak. Something must be done! Thank YHWH we have Charlie Krauthammer on guard protecting us all. (Honorable mention in that regard goes to our lovable Zionist friends Ronnie and Aaron.)

Let me get this straight. Foreign terrorists work with Mexican drug gangs to conduct terrorism in America, and you poo poo this?
Obama has been appeasing Iran for months. His first act scuttled all the progress we made prior to 2009 to contain Iran’s nuclear program. And you think this Obama want’s war with Iran?
And if war with Iran were the goal, wouldn’t it make more sense to allow such an attack? It would be a clear and irreproachable casus belli for both the US and Saudi Arabia.
The plot is real and it made news today to save Holder and prevent war with Iran. Right now, there are no dead Americans or Saudis, so this can be swept under the rug with a new round of sanctions on Iran. Soon enough Russia and China will break the sanctions.

No, Ron. A petty criminal was set up by FBI and DEA plotters. No Mexican drug gangs were involved unless such gang was controlled by the FBI informant who set this up. Per the FBI, they were in complete control of the plot from the beginning and no one was in any danger ever. The restaurant where the Saudi embassador was to be assassinated was fictitious and the account into which the “down payment” was allegedly made was controlled by the US government. The plot was real all right; it just wasn’t a real Iranian plot anymore than other recent arrests have been real Al Qaeda plots.

Ron, I’m not poo pooing it. I’m suggesting that I don’t automatically accept the government’s account uncritically and no one should. Why should I? Has our government proven itself trustworthy? And I am particularly skeptical when it comes to the Middle East and potential war because this government has a track record of fabricating, embellishing, spinning evidence to sway public opinion in the way they want.
Whether this announcement, if not legit, was primarily intended to get Holder and Fast and Furious off the front page, bolster Obama’s image as a terrorism fighter, strengthen the case for sanctions, start a war, or all of the above, I don’t know. But if I and large segments of the population don’t just automatically accept the government’s story it is not because we are all a bunch of paranoids. The government is lying in the bed of mistrust it made for itself.

And Hillary say’s “You can’t make this stuff up!”……..Ha-Ha!…..Ha-Ha!……..Since when can they not make stuff up? Hillary and Bill knew more Mexican Drug Lords in Little Rock than the DEA!(Remember the Mena Airport?)………….Besides, new story is “Syrian Spy Caught Gathering Info At Rallys Against Syria In DC!”………The misdirection just keeps on keeping on.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu continues to ask for the release of Pollard.

Move to Israel Ron

Not Libertarian,
Ron doesn’t have to move to be in Israel. That’s the problem.

Great timing for the ” fast and furious” government.
Could be a smokescreen to take the heat off of Holder and Obummer.
It is sad to trust Iran more than our own government but I know the current administration lies to us !
I do not think Iran is the biggest threat America faces.
Do you expect them to conquer us and run our congress, state dept, pentagon, foreign policy, Federal Reserve, banking system,Wall Street ,newspapers, magazines and television networks ?
Would we be any worse off with a new master ?

Not Libertarian and Sempronius, y’all be nice. I don’t agree with Ron on foreign policy, but I appreciate his comments and participation. When I posted this I figured Ron would respond, and I was curious what he would have to say. Nothing is gained by talking only to an echo chamber.

Kirt,
Having an informant in an organization is not the same as owning or controlling it. Manssor Arbabsiar contacted a Mexican gang. He was recruited, allegedly by Iran. And where do you get the idea that the restaurant is fictitious?
Red,
Of course we should be skeptical.
Roho,
Pollard is where he should be. If Bibi really wanted him, he would snag one of the CIA agents in Israel and ask for a trade.
Kirt Higdon on 13 Oct 2011 at 7:22 pm #
I agree that having an informant in a gang is not the same as owning it or controlling it, but the informant was, according to reports, the only member of the gang that the “terrorist” ever met. And there is also the matter of the “fast and furious” operation which has been arming at least one and perhaps more Mexican drug cartels. I think it is a good time to at least raise the possibility that one or more of these cartels may actually be surrogates of the US government rather than enemies. The same has obviously been true of various terrorist organizations which bounce back and forth between being enemies of the US and surrogates.
One of the reports I read quoted an FBI spokesman as saying that the restaurant was fictitious, by way of assuring that neither the Saudi ambassador nor any other diners were ever in danger.

The phony ‘Iran Plot’ story is a distraction from *fbi incompetence and at the same time prepares the world for an attack on Iran by USA or ‘?Isreal’.
