Presidential Candidates Crossing the Pond

There was a minor controversy over the last month as Ron Paul accepted a meeting with a visiting Marine Le Pen (at her request, allegedly to discuss the gold standard.)   Marine Le Pen is running for President of France, as the leader of the French party, Front National.

They met for about 10 minutes on Thursday; Human Events seems to be the only one on the Right that reported it; here is the Roll Call story.

Compared to the mixed reaction, with plenty of support, Geert Wilders receives, Marine Le Pen is nevertheless, beyond the pale and apparently not worthy of mention by what passes for an American Right.

But it does appear the real concern, as the more Leftist political outlets were pulling their hairs out–see, Ron Paul is a rightwinger!—is the Rightwing Press doesn’t want that notion to be considered.

If we do a get a rightish flavored Third Party next year, it’s worth noting that after meeting with Paul, Le Pen was off to see the Occupy folks.

_______

Aside:

When Alvin Greene won the Democrat Party nomination for Senate, I suggested perhaps the word “Greene” encouraged Leftists to vote for him.  I wonder if the polls that show Cain as the leader for the Republican nomination are driven by left-over nodes created for McCain?

Isn’t one of the side effects of the Ron Paul movement that he effectively prevented a serious nationalism from emerging in the USA?

Geert Wilders is one of the most annoying of anti-Muslim politicians in Europe, especially his obsession that Islam is an evil ideology. As Derek Turner pointed out a few years ago in an article, if Islam is truly the most evil ideology the world has ever seen (as Wilders maintains), then maybe Western countries are justified bankrupting themselves to spread democracy throughout the Middle East.

The reality of the situation is that Muslims shouldn’t be in Europe and should be deported, and that Islam should be restricted to non-Western territories (the Middle East, South Asia, Africa, Latin America, etc.), not because it’s evil but simply because it’s non-Western (and those who practice it non-Western) and Islam doesn’t belong in the West.

I wonder whether Wilders complete lack of healthy ethnocentrism and hyper-political correctness stem from the fact that he’s part Asian.

Monitor offers a post in search of a blog–answer: no, it would appear not. Ron Paul met with Le Pen; a Tea Party frosh met with Le Pen.

Am I missing something? Le Pen is pro-choice, which is more or less evolved–confusing no doubt…Moving on…

    Walter;

We have our assumed ideas about why Mr. Wilders gets special treatment–wink, wink, nudge nudge, but more importantly, one has to look at social networks, and how these social networks might evolve. If Mr. Wilders is okay with segments of the neocons, then we must find alternative social networks that can voice a real pluralism (Europe for Europe, Muslim states for Muslim…) as the anti-thesis to the ruling “multiculturalism.”

Youth for Western Civilization seemed to notice the meeting.

Again with an aside, Herman Cain started with some Wilders’ styled baiting, and quickly caved…what does that tell us?

Everyone is missing one of the most important questions of our age; what is Marine Le Penn’s opinion about Chronicles Magazine’s commenting policy?

No, the biggest issue of the day is Moslem and Jewish food preparation. Geert Wilders is “agin it” and working to get it outlawed in the Netherlands.
