The Race IQ ‘Blackout’

Posted under Uncategorized

To paraphrase Ta-Nehisi Coates of The Atlantic: “I proclaim my proud ignorance of the research, have no understanding of statistics, and in addition to a frothing leftist bias, I sport a racial chip on my shoulder the size of New York state, but I still don’t believe race exists.”

Here’s Mr. Coates’s article, which is a frank admission and stubborn refusal to accept this research.

Of course he doesn’t believe in the concept of “race”, he is a black who is occupying a position at The Atlantic solely because of his race. For him to acknowledge race would require him to admit to himself that he is unworthy of the position that he holds and that it was dealt to him in a manner similar to foodstamps being given to the poor..

This episode was started by some blog posts by Andrew Sullivan:

I must compliment Sullivan in his courage in addressing this issue. And Sullivan hits the nail on the head when he writes, “The study of intelligence has been strangled by pc egalitarianism.”

    Here’s Richard Spencer on it:

    Coates’ response to Sullivan:

“I am not without my own baggage. I remember when Andrew published The Bell Curve excerpt in The New Republic. I was an undergraduate at Howard University–same city, but a different world. All of the young intellectuals who’d gather under the flag-pole on the yard were hot and angry. But a professor on campus (and I wish I could remember who) handed out xeroxed copies of the excerpt and its responses and simply told us, “Arm yourselves.” Don’t get angry he told us. Get informed.”

It’s interesting that the black professor prepared them for confrontation, for informing themselves for the sake of confrontation —- not for an appreciation of truth or knowledge seeking. Instead of telling students to “arm themselves,” he might have said, “let’s look at this evidence and weigh it objectively,” which of course never happens. What more can be said…

WTF does it take to be an intellectual at Howard?

    Eyeglasses?
    A daily bath?

The lid is going to come off eventually. The tension between evolutionary myth (nothing intrinsically equal about any two organisms or groups of organisms, inc humans) and egalitarianism (all humans equal, dissenters=nazis) can’t go on forever. I’m not optimistic about the consequences though. If you think pro-interracial propaganda is bad now, just wait until it is the key to bringing about intellectual equality.

Why are you picking on a poor, intellectually illiterate, black man?

Where does he say he doesn’t believe race exists? Not in post you’re paraphrasing. Are you just making stuff up?

The post does make a couple of good points in with the general stupidity. Race and IQ research is not just about “finding out stuff.” Jensen may be the exception that proves the rule. I didn’t read Sullivan’s post, but it’s true that he should provide evidence that good research is being stifled.

Most run of the mill Liberals “believe” in race. The hardcore Left professes not to. It’s a mere “social construct” and hence does not truly exist, they say. Which means the Left essential says this:

“Race does not exist. Yet we absolutely INSIST that we create and maintain a massive bureaucracy backed by the full power of the Federal government, up to and including imprisonment of violators, to enforce an ever expanding set of laws and regulations based entirely and solely on this thing we do not believe exists.”

Nice work if you can get it.

Peterike, that’s a complete misrepresentation of the left’s belief on race. It’s spread by race-realists who have no interest in the truth.

You yourself hinted at why it’s a misrepresentation: leftists obviously believe that race as socially defined exists, but they deny that biologically defined race exists. All the stuff about affirmative action, racism, etc. refers to socially-constructed race. There is no inconsistency there.

I wonder how many people on the right are interested in the truth. My guess: about the same proportion as those on the left.
