Sorry I am a little late commenting about this.
Here are Thomas Fleming’s thoughts.
Both are excellent. I have little to add. I will add that Cockburn’s writings expressing his skepticism of global warming are among the most readable I have encountered.

In a way, he was like Joe Sobran, only Cockburn was never cut off from his ideological home. Sobran at IHR and Cockburn defending Ernst Zundel.
I would also add that it was a short path from Kauffman’s portrayal of Gore Vidal as a sort of paleo-con to Cockburn’s style of approach.

highly entertaining and completely barmey- he thought the earth’s core is warming .
