SPLC connected to Left-wing terrorist in DC?

Fox News reports a gunman was stopped by a courageous security guard at the Family Research Council’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. According to the report, the gunman admitted he was motivated by “what this place stands for.”

So, one has to wonder — what motivated the gunman’s attack? Could it have been the SPLC?

UPDATE:

The SPLC must be feeling the heat over this. Here’s their statement:

We’ve seen news of the shooting of a security guard today at the Family Research Council office in Washington, D.C., and are getting media inquiries about it. There are unconfirmed reports that the shooting was ideologically motivated. We condemn all acts of violence and are following the story closely.

Yes, just because the SPLC gushes about unrepentant terrorist bomber Bill Ayers, or praises the efforts of Marxist revolutionaries doesn’t mean they LIKE violence.

Some things they just tolerate.

It would not be surprising to see more of this type of terrorism by the gays, egged on by SPLC. Good save by the courageous security guard. I’ll just have to bite my tongue the next time I’m tempted to use the term “rent-a-cop”.

    Kirt Higdon,

Stories about unexpected courage from ordinary folks aways shake me.

    Kirt,
There are a lot of organization other than the SPLC to rile up the Roehmites like Act up!, Bash Back!, OutRage!, or the Lesbian Avengers.

Is ActUp still around? I remember how obnoxious they were 20 or more years ago; I figured they had all died of AIDS by this time.

    RonL, Kirt Higdon,

I think they all took positions in the Democratic Party.

This was clearly a planed “hate crime,” motivated by leftist ideology which is constantly stoked and directed by people like the SPLC at groups like the FRC and business like Chick-fil-a who are, whatever one my think of them and their agenda, citizens voicing and advancing their political and social views as is the right of every citizen. The security guard prevented a massacre. I think there needs to be a careful investigation into this incident to see if this individual was somehow influenced by Mark Potok and the SPLC through their internet presence or their many, many television interviews over the years. If he was, then the FRC, or someone else, needs to sue the SPLC. After all, these types of cases are perfectly acceptable in today’s legal system and juries tend to award large settlements in these cases. In fact, this is exactly how Morris Dees and the SPLC made most of its money in its early days.

    James,

As much as I’d love to see the SPLC hoisted on its own petard, it doesn’t seem too likely. A lot of lefty groups have demonized FRC and Chick-fil-A, so it would be difficult to pin this nut’s insanity on one group.

Additionally, while I agree with HB2, it is also difficult (and sometimes absurd) to pin the motivation of a crazy on ANY group at all.

The left has certainly tried to pin things on the right — calling out the Tea Party for attrocities caused by whackos who’s motivation is just as likely determined by the moon phase as much as what any group would have to say.

With Boykin, one of the tough guy Delta Force chaps at Waco, being in the FRC building at the time of the shooting, I am assuming this has all been a publicity stunt.

I doubt it. The SPLC is designed to extract donations from ignorant coastal lefties…it gains nothing from encouraging or promoting violent terrorist actions. If the FRC were to disappear, that would be one less fundraising pamphlet they could send out.
