Shame on Augusta National. They have caved. While they deserve credit for not caving 10 years ago when the pressure was really on, this still feels like a delayed cave, an attempt to save face while still giving in to the forces of PC. I also don’t get why any self-respecting woman would accept the invitation to become an obvious token. But then, whoever thought Condi Rice had any self-respect. If she did, she wouldn’t have shilled for Bush’s stupid war.

Those who wonder why these private clubs cave to pressure, tend to forget that they were run by homosexualists and cater to that clientele as well.

I don’t think that they are gay?……Condi was dating a British Diplomat for some time.
It is nothing more than another success story of Liberal Marxists tearing down traditionalism and conservatism……Sticking it to the “Old White Man” in any way that can be done.

I don’t see how this can be seen as a cave-in. Augusta beat back that dullard Martha Burk 10 years ago. They sent her whimpering away with her tail between her legs.

If this is what the majority of club members sincerely want to do then I don’t believe its caving. It’s becomes caving when a pressure squawks and then they given in without any external pressure.

One of the few posts here that I read, take a deep breath, and realize I could care less. Augusta can do what it wants, and Condi can sleep with who she wants — I am not going to get worked up about either situation.

it’s a battle in the Culture War. While the government shouldn’t get involved with private groups, it’s perfectly fine, and indeed a positive, for peers to apply peer pressure. We are not part of the government, and Augusta National deserves to be mocked.
