More Evidence That George W. Bush is a Blithering Idiot

Posted under George W. Bush & Immigration

Here is more evidence, as if any was needed, that George W. Bush is a blithering idiot.

“America can become a lawful society and a welcoming society at the same time,” Bush said, according to the Texas Tribune. “As our nation debates the proper course of action on immigration reform, I hope we do so with a benevolent spirit and keep in mind the contributions of immigrants.

“Not only do immigrants help build the economy, they invigorate our soul,” Bush added.

Bush has said one of his major regrets about his presidency is that he did not manage to pass immigration reform.

I have said it before, and I will say it again and again as many times as I need to until it sinks in, if you are a Republican and/or a conservative and you are not an immigration restrictionist, then you either have a death wish or you can’t do simple math. It really is that simple. George Bush never has been a conservative. Here he proves he doesn’t care much about the perpetuity of the Republican Party either.

Is this recent shifting of focus on the crucial issues and figures of 2005, intentional on your part, Red?

  2. RedPhillips on 06 Dec 2012 at 2:24 am #

So immigration isn’t a current issue? Politicians aren’t once again discussing “comprehensive” immigration reform? Asinine Republicans aren’t once again listening to asinine pundits and the asinine conventional wisdom that they must give on immigration to win minority votes? What world do you live in Sav?

Blithering Jesuit directed globalist more like it, Red. They know exactly what they are doing.

  4. Savrola on 06 Dec 2012 at 2:12 pm #

No immigration is not an issue. The discussion is smoke and mirrors, the conclusion, forgone. As you well know, Red.

The government is going to keep right on importing immigrants, despite your impotent rants, there’s not a damn thing you can do about it.

“Not only do immigrants help build the economy, they invigorate our soul.”

How does importing millions of people that don’t share our faith or our history or our heroes invigorate our soul?

I wish somebody would ask him that.

Why does Savrola keep coming here if he hates it so much?

I’d be interested to hear the list of regrets GWB has about his presidency.

  7. Sempronius on 06 Dec 2012 at 4:33 pm #

Why don’t some secessionist Texan types head over to Crawford and tar and feather this sod?

  8. Savrola on 06 Dec 2012 at 4:38 pm #

Because secessionist types are particularly chickenlivered.

Sav, I doubt, based on inertia, that we can change the current inflow of immigrants. I do think, also partially based on inertia, that the grassroots can prevent amnesty as we have before. I also think we can make life miserable for Republicans that cave.

That said, as I have said before, there are a lot of things that I am willing to concede intellectually, that I refused to concede emotionally. I ain’t going down without a fight. I want to resist the new reality. You want to work with it. How ’bout you do your thing and I’ll do mine.

I’ve written off Savrola as an enemy collaborationist.

Anyway, thanks for the article, Red. Agree completely.

The whole point is rather moot, as neither of you are actively engaged in politics.

You aren’t fighting, neither of you are doing a darn thing. Neither of you have the slightest experience at street level activism, nor inclination to gain any experience which might allow you to address my strategy from something like an equal footing.

Since when is Kirt Higdon advising Georgie?

  13. Matt Weber on 06 Dec 2012 at 9:56 pm #

I have to disagree with your last sentence though. The Republican party will survive, and in fact the only way it won’t is if whites abandon it. Conservative whites currently have nowhere else to go, and as long as the Republicans creep left slowly enough not to spook them, they can continue to present themselves as the conservative alternative to the Democrats. If the ’65 immigration law were never passed, we wouldn’t have a one-party Republican country, we would just have general elections that resemble current Republican primaries.

“Since when is Kirt Higdon advising Georgie?” – Sempronius

I never advised him, never voted for him, and was often described as a “Bush hater”. Where do you get such strange ideas?

While I disagree with Sav on several points as each region is slightly to very different, politics is the art of the possible–where there is no solution there is no problem–or whatever you want to insert.

The immigration issue was doable, theoretically, in as late as the 90s, but it is after the fact–even Larry Auster agrees on this point, so disagreeing puts you to the Left of the Right.

I have a built-in nice defense mechanism that says cut the welfare state bennies and they will leave (but that isn’t going to happen.) Build a wall means nothing but ever more clever drug supply routes as Amnesty is linked to a Maginot Line to fulfill the public dream.

After you digest that, if the subject is ‘politics’ then you have to offer tactical defenses, not emotional reactions.

    Kirt,

You and George take the same approach to the Mexican problem.

You have more in common with Shrub than either you or your Republican booster acquaintances care to admit.

  17. Kirt Higdon on 08 Dec 2012 at 2:13 pm #

Semp, I’ve lived among Mexicans and other Latinos and other immigrants all of my adult life. None of them have caused me any significant problems and many of them have significantly enhanced the quality of my life. This is just not a political issue for me, let alone the obsession it seems to be for you. Clearly, however, I won’t support proposals to undertake mass expulsion of immigrants or making their lives so unpleasant that they will “self-deport”.

Actually, recent reports indicate that Mexican immigration is way down and may even have reversed. This is due to Mexican economic growth, which is surprisingly strong even with the problem of the narco wars, and due to the declining Mexican birthrate. I doubt that will cure your obsession, but in the spirit of the Christmas season, I’m trying to send some good cheer your way.

    Kirt,

While you may not have had problems personally with hispanic immigrants and their offspring, the facts on the ground don’t deceive. Wherever Hispanics migrate to as a group, crime and illiteracy follow. Just look at Pomona, Maryvale(AZ) or a zillion other “once great” places. Now they’re third world scumtowns with a few pockets of gated communities.

The idea that it’s too late to do anything about mass immigration is nonsense. Since we know that regardless of what people say, they self segregate. So it is just a matter of where the new boundaries will be and where. There is more than one way to skin a cat. So what if the federal government does nothing about immigration? The states can do things. Communities can do things. There are few illegal aliens in places like Boston or Vermont. They are simply priced out of the market there. Publicity also works. When a slightly right leaning state like Arizona passes a controversial immigration law, the media goes crazy and portrays it as some sort of extreme right wing racist zone. The bad publicity though is actually beneficial, because it makes liberals not want to live here as they view it as a hostile place. Illegal immigrants that want to avoid employer sanctions laws and e-verify roadblocks might head to New Mexico or California instead. It is worth noting that even though AZ was demonized nationally for passing SB1070, the governor and Sheriff Joe easily got reelected. This is in a state that has a huge hispanic population. So many of my young liberal yuppie friends tell me they “can’t wait to move out of this backward, racist state.” Success! It may be too late for Arizona in the end, but it certainly isn’t for places like South Carolina, Mississippi or Alabama.

If you want to stop mass immigration, just pass a law in your area that will label the place an intolerant, unfriendly, mean spirited place. Hopefully if you’re lucky, people will believe it is, and they may just not want to go there.
