“Conservative” Lincoln Worshipers?

Check out “How Did ‘Conservatives’ Become Lincoln-Worshipers” by our friend Michael at the Southern Nationalist Network. I’m not crazy about the designation “nationalist,” but Michael is doing some good work over there.

Red, you don’t remember but we had an exchange about this years ago at Chronicles. It’s hard to define what “nationalist” means. I think what it suggests to most people is Germans defining their nation broadly and then exalting it at the expense of other nations. But it can also mean simply defending a particular people and place. I think the latter definition is a good thing.
