SPRINGFIELD, Virginia – Campaign for Liberty released the following statement from C4L President John Tate today blasting House GOP leadership after they announced a debt ceiling plan that indicates the GOP retreat will continue when they return to Washington:
“The Republican retreat was only supposed to last a week, but now it appears it will last the entire 113th Congress. With a $16 Trillion national debt, it is the very definition of insanity for so-called ‘fiscal conservatives’ to hand President Obama – the biggest spender in our nation’s history – a blank check to continue his irresponsible spending and pile even more debt on the backs of our nation’s children. The GOP’s preemptive surrender to President Obama and Harry Reid’s demands, allowing an increase in the debt ceiling without any real spending cuts, is further evidence why the American people are right to have absolutely no confidence in their elected leaders. As the House GOP is one of the few defenses the American people have against President Obama’s runaway spending, it is way past time for Speaker Boehner and the rest of the House GOP Leadership to listen to the American people, stand up, and finally say, ‘Enough!’”

I’m not sure what you would have them do. The Republicans played this game with the debt ceiling and lost. They lost the political battle and they lost the messaging battle. What good is it to persist in behavior that has been successfully labeled “obstructionist”? So in 2014 they can lose the House too? The reaction to the debt ceiling thing shows that while people are somewhat concerned about spending, they don’t like hardline stances and “taking the country hostage” as part of the tactics to reduce it.
The Republicans are smart to cave on this one. They should cave on this ridiculous Hagel thing too while they’re at it. They have to rebuild their image and these big obstinate shows are only doing more damage.

I hope you realize that this is not the type of site that would oppose Hagel.

Yeah, the point I was getting at is that the Republicans are behaving vis-a-vis Hagel as if they were actively trying to get people to think they are nuts. When did they get so bad at politics? I can’t think of a worse way to blow what little political capital remains than to oppose a boringly competent appointment like Hagel. I go other places, and I see liberals saying that the Republican party has lost its mind and become a worthless party, and I have to sadly shake my head in agreement. At least now they’ve shown some awareness of their position with the debt ceiling.

I can’t believe John Tate is still racketeering money from innocents through the C4L scam.
Needless to say, a statement from C4L means nothing to anyone, since it’s a giant head (Tate’s) mounted a on a skeleton body that’s been sucked dry by bloodsucking vampires (also Tate).

Sav, there is a role for advocacy organizations in the process and there is a serious need for such organizations that represent the “far” or “outside the mainstream” right. The Tenth Amendment Center seems to be doing good work, for example. Releasing statements is part of that. But you are correct that these groups need to do something other than serve as fundraising mechanism to inturn raise more funds. Whether C4L passes that test at this point I don’t know. Haven’t looked into it. But a statement from C4L is useful in that it represents opposition to the go along to get along attitude that is so prevalent these days.
Hence also posting the statement of Rand Paul above.

It’s been five years, Red. And you still haven’t bothered to look into it?

I haven’t given them any money and don’t generally give money to political organizations. I don’t think the Ron Paul campaigns always made the best use of their money.

It is your job as an editorialist to point that out.
And you’ve never called out John Tate for it. You’ve let him shear the sheep.
Now he can make press releases, but C4L’s press releases are inconsequential because they have no following.
And it’s your job as an editorialist to point that out.

I can’t do everything Sav. Maybe I was too busy trying to keep up with the latest details about Obama’s murky background or whatever.
http://www.savrolaexplainsitall.com has a nice ring to it.

[Preach it, Red. I'd like to share what I stumbled upon on the net.]
Senator Harry Reid’s Porn Secret
by Aaronita Smith
Mormon Senator Harry Reid has been covering up the hard-core porn sketch in the “Book of Abraham” which is Mormon-approved scripture.
This Book is part of the “Pearl of Great Price” which, along with the “Book of Mormon” and the “Doctrine and Covenants,” make up the LDS church’s “triple combination” in one volume.
The porn is found in Fig. 7 of Facsimile 2 in the “Book of Abraham” which shows two beings facing each other, which were described by Joseph Smith as representing the “Holy Ghost” and “God sitting upon his throne,” the latter clearly showing an aroused male sex organ.
After Smith published this sketch in his newspaper in 1842, which offended Mormon sensibilities, the phallic portion was whited out for more than a century until the “restored” LDS church decided in 1981 to restore what had long been censored!
Equally shocking was the discovery that the “Book of Abraham” had nothing to do with Abraham or his God but was really only ancient Egyptian funeral documents depicting occultic obscene practices – and the original sketches showed an erotic phallus on both beings including the one Smith blasphemously claimed was the Holy Ghost!
For further information see “Book of Abraham” (Wikipedia). Also see Jerald and Sandra Tanner’s “Mormonism – Shadow or Reality?” which on 76 pages reproduces the original Egyptian X-rated drawings and shows how Smith altered them and created one of his many frauds. Highlights in the classic Tanner work can be seen by typing “Facts From Mormons (By a Utah Resident)” and “What LDS Leaders Say” on Google and Yahoo.
