The already blurry lines between fantasy entertainment and fantasy politics just got blurrier:
Former Arkansas Governor and Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee announced today the endorsement of professional wrestling legend “Nature Boy†Ric Flair, the former 16-time World Heavyweight Champion known worldwide for his “stylin’ and profilin’†personality and his signature “Whooooooo†with which he ends interviews.
Looks like there’s a real affinity between this fake conservative and scripted tough guys.
Any second now, someone will huff that Flair’s won the WWE championship 16 times – so he’s the real thing. Sure—just as Huckabee is.

Ric Flair hasn’t won the WWE championship 16 times, he won the WCW championship 14 times and the WWF championship twice. He never won the belt after the WWF bought out WCW and then changed their name to WWE after losing a lawsuit.
As far as Ric Flair being the real thing you better believe he is. I challenge you to crash down on wood covered with canvas 7 nights a week for 30 years. It’s amazing he can still walk.

And to think Chronicles offered a review of his biography!

Say it isn’t so Ric! Say it isn’t so!
Ric Flair was my boyhood idol. This one really hurts.

Since I suspect that is aimed at me, I will respond. Hollywood is full of martial arts stars that never competed or competed only on a limited basis. My point is that Chuck Norris was actually a competitive martial artist who competed in the big league of martial arts of his day, and compiled a very impressive record, before going to Hollywood.
That is a statement of well known documented facts, not opinion. I am not sure why that is an issue.
Randy Couture has acted in a few movies and has a big starring role coming up. Is anyone going to say Couture isn’t a legitimate tough guy because he has gone Hollywood?
Tito Ortiz is going to be on the new Celebrity Apprentice. Is he a phony tough guy now?
What is the issue here?

Filmer,
Yeah, I know about Norris’ career. I just get ticked every time his re-runs come on and he’s side-kicking all those white dope peddlers. In the opening, he’s walloping street thugs sporting Confederate bandanas. His show is just so sticky-sweet PC that it makes me gag.
And now Upchuck endorses Huckster? A match made in some PR flack’s office.

So Chuck sold out to PC. I agree.
“Judo” Gene Labell is another real Hollywood tough guy. Rumor has it that he put a beat down on Steven Seagal.

I come from the pre-Brisco era..so I can only comment warily.
If The Huckster gets all of the fake and semi-fake fighter vote, what does that mean ?? We’ll put all the illegals in a sleeper hold till after the election ?

Put the Atomic Drop on ‘em!

No one, and I mean no one, could cut a promo like Ric Flair could in his day.
