While researching an article that referenced the Russian revolution, it struck me that utopian movements attract both dreamy idealists and psychopaths. The idealists are so focused on the good they just know will issue from their schemes, they never consider the harm they do to others — if they do, they imagine it’s simply collateral damage that will be vindicated by the glorious results.
The psychopaths, on the other hand — well, they have their reasons, too.
My short story, Aquarius, was inspired by that realization. Enjoy.
