Gee, just one little speech promising to commit genocide against Muslims, and the Neocons fall head-over-heels in love with you:
Hillary Clinton’s got the momentum.
She’s already put up big campaign fundraising numbers in the follow-up to her victory, and we should expect to see a Clinton bump in public opinion in states holding upcoming primaries, especially Indiana, the next crucial test for Obama’s working-class appeal.
This Bud’s for you, Hillraiser!
She had him at “obliterate.”

Next time, the brother will know better than to skip his “Pilgrimage To The 7th Herzliya Conference”!

I didn’t realize that an attempt at deterrence was a threat of genocide.
You must have really hated the imprisoned population of the USSR, unless you were a communist sympathizing surrender monger?
The irony is that a few posts ago, you were promoting the theory tath Iran could be deterred. So which is it?
Are you admitting that the lunatic Islamists are not deterrable?
You can’t have it both ways.
I think that Hillary’s comments are silly. However, here pledge to defend Israel and other allies in the region from Iranian response are not genocidal. Considering the Ayatollahs desire to destroy the “Great Satan” we are in the same boat.

RonL,
I take H’s use of the term “obliterate” literally. Just check out the ecstatic reaction by the Neocons — they’ve got visions of mushroom clouds over Tehran dancing in their fetid brains.
It’s time to cut Israel loose and quit propping them up. Period.

Ron, I’m more in favor of trade and commerce with many nations, entangling alliances with none.
Plus, it doesn’t matter what Islamic despots “want” to do to the West. They are vastly outpowered by us, and as long as Americans remain well-defended (which means defending our borders AND not wasting vast amounts of military lifeblood and funds in unnecessary, endless conflicts in aloof regions), Americans have little or no violent threats to fear of but our own government.
But thanks again, I guess, for bringing a more or less Buckleyite perspective to the discussions we have.

You wrote: “Americans have little or no violent threats to fear of but our own government.”
I think that just about sums up what I’m trying to say.

HarrisonBergeron2,
I thought neocons wanted to democratize Iran, not nuke them. (Now that would be a powederkeg. I believe that Persians will soon be a minority)
Andrew T:
“Ron, I’m more in favor of trade and commerce with many nations, entangling alliances with none.”
Back when Europe was beating the Islamic world into submission that was a reasonable strategy. We don’t live in that world. We face the Islamic World, Europe’s decline into Eurabia, and the coalescence of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
“Plus, it doesn’t matter what Islamic despots “want†to do to the West. Military power, like political power is a matter of will and numbers. We lack will in the west. The Eruopean choose to become Eurabia. We can’t let that happen or we will lose any military advantage.
Persia and Byzantium were great empires in 617 CE and the Jihadists were a small band. Within a generation, Persia was Muslim and the levant and Egypt were conquered.
Still, we face terrorism and unconventional threats even today. (Did you forget 9-11?) I am mystified at the lack of sucessful terrorist attacks in the US. Yet, the time will soon come that we face both mass murder and strategic attacks on our economy from terrorists. Showing them that we are a paper-mache eagle will only hasten attacks.
“But thanks again, I guess, for bringing a more or less Buckleyite perspective to the discussions we have.”
Thank you.

Oh, pipe down and get your bearings. We are well-defended against enemies abroad (although increasingly less so, because our interventionism, which led to 9/11, is suicide) and we need to be concerned with the enemies domestic.

“Yet, the time will soon come that we face both mass murder and strategic attacks on our economy from terrorists.”
We face mass deaths in the form of on-demand abortion and losses of troops to stagnant foreign conflict. We face strategic attacks on our economy in the form of the Federal Reserve and economic protectionism. Let’s worry about that and stop being the policeman of the world.

I’d love to get Hillary as McCain’s VP
It would split the Rep and Dem parties… and also reveal the true allegiance that McCain has with evil.
