As the head the online division of the Republican Party, Patrick Ruffini has the thankless task of teaching technological neanderthals how to get past the making-fire phase to putting it to more productive uses.
Apparently he’s a little worried that Ron Paul’s Republican National Convention delegates might keep the convention from being a recreation of the Nuremburg Rallies according to this blog post from TAC.
Never have so few scared so many. The media claims Paul only has 21 pledged delegates. Paul’s people count 50. It would be nice if they could get to 100, but I doubt if they’ll reach that. Yet such miniscule numbers have GOP leaders like Ruffini worried because they’ll stand out from the rest of the conformists. If anything I worry about their safety surrounded by that fascist mob.
It will be interesting to see if anti-war protestor take up Paul’s cause as their own or how they’ll mix assuming a good deal of Paul supporters will come to St. Paul (only an hour’s drive from my home). Colleen Rowley, the FBI-9/11 whistleblower is holding a Peace Picnic on Harriet Island Park which is right across the Mississppi River from the Xcel Energy Center. Also, the city Minneapolis (who council is dominated by Greens), is allowing demonstrations which only need a voluntary permits which no doubt attract protests and rallies as well. And of course, right the time of the convention, is the Minnesota State Fair. It’s one of the largest in the country, drawing 1.8 million people and is always a good gathering place for politicians.
Also interesting is the fact that while Romney and Hucakbee have both dropped out of the race, they have only “suspended” their campaigns, meaning they’re still entitled to the delegates they’ve won. Are they hedging their bets? What if McCain by convention-eve is a fairly unpopular person and the Dems have united around somebody at least and he and the whole GOP ticket looks like a sure loser. Could this be another 1992 where the furies are unleashed and an unpopular nominee bears the brunt of it?
We’ll see. It could be one hell of a late summer and I’m right in the middle of it.

If at the convention any of these goons happen to lay a finger on Ron Paul’s people, I will leave the Republican party. I’m serious. That would be the last straw for me.

The GOP(Gutted Our Principles)deserves no sympathy or respect from anyone. How do you control the Whitehouse and Congress for 6 years for the first time in my life, and only come away with a couple of judicial appointments?
I will not be voting for S-2611 McAmnesty regardless of who the other candidates are. We’ve been called rascist and bigots by our own party, so let’s see how they like “Rowdy”?…….The GOP has become a cult of “Party Worshipers” that see principle as an obstacle for “Empiracle Advancement”. They deserve all the chastisement they can get at the convention!
I’m still hopeful that Ron Paul might accept being drafted by the CP.

Heck Roho, as popular as Paul is he doesn’t need a party… does he?
I bet he could get on every state ballot in the union, or at least do well as a write-in candidate where he’s off the ballot.

a “fascist” = a conservative beating a liberal in an argument
Andrew T. on 25 Apr 2008 at 8:54 pm #
Doug,
Where are you getting that catchphrase from? Some Ann Coulter-esque book/website whose definition of “conservatism” is an absurdly misinformed sense of militarism?
Weaver on 26 Apr 2008 at 1:34 am #
Doug, in this case:
fascist = globalist pretending to be a conservative
Andrew T. on 26 Apr 2008 at 2:41 am #
Weaver,
And in any case, a fascist is an imperialistic, corporatist worshiper of State.
Weaver on 26 Apr 2008 at 4:48 am #
“a fascist is an imperialistic, corporatist worshiper of State.”
Which is all a global Marxist is really. The only difference between a fascist as you define it and a global Marxist: the globalist is more ambitious. Why settle for an empire when you can have the world?
roho on 26 Apr 2008 at 10:37 pm #
Absolutely!………………A Globalist want’s it all!………And sees Flags as tattered symbolism of the ignorant patriot!

Fascist, communist, it’s all the same marching totalitarianism to me. It could be Nazi Germany, it could be North Korea too.
Read the post I put up about the Nevada GOP State Convention. Ron Paul won 7 out of 9 Congression district delegates and is going to take the majority of state delegates. The GOP establishment knew this so they ran away. They don’t want Ron Paul delegates on the floor of the national convention, because that would embarass them. They want everyone cheering and clapping on cue the fearless leader John McCain. They want no voices of dissent whatsoever. They basically want convention of stooges, trained seals and rubber stamps, the kind you find in fascist and communist dictatorships.
Well, they’re not going to get one. Everyone knows McCain won the GOP nomination by default. Nobody likes him or enthusiastic about him. The idea that GOP delegates after 14 years of failed revolutions and broken promises and now a war without end given to them by their leaders should just shut up and take while their party goes down the tubes and cheer the very people who put the party in such a wretched state is ridiculous. This isn’t the Supreme Soviet!
