The sound you just heard was Mike Huckabee’s hypothetical 2012 campaign imploding.
Frankly, a lot of us who enjoyed the angst he was causing mainstream conservatives and were rooting for him secretly or openly against Romney will not be sorry to see him lose in the future. No one wants to be lectured to by someone spouting Gersonism, especially the particularly disingenuous kind that calls for “as little†government as there can be without ever being able to find a single thing that government does that it shouldn’t do.
And those of us who were never rooting for him are relieved by the Huckster’s falling out with Larison.

I think Larison overlooks the “Huckster’s” charismatic charms.(Just as many overlooked Bill Clinton)….The “Welfare/Warfare State” has been born. And, like the Romans, “Just bring the stuff back to Rome”.
He never made his Pilgrimage to Tel Aviv(As the others did), but I’m sure that he has now been re-educated.
Money will come, and he will be at the 8th Herzylia conference.(As McCain, Edwards, Romney, Gingrich, and Guiliani were.)

Larison’s right about Huckabee, who I believe is finished politically on the national scene. He may be a U.S. Senator some day, but nothing more.
What jerks my chain about Larison is his constant use of the terms “economic conservatives” and other types of conservatives. To me, there are only “true conservatives” and phony ones like the WSJ folks. The RINOs and even some of the Christian conservatives like Tony Perkins (who I once admired) are “phony conservatives”. Huckabee is also one. Any so-called “conservative” who is for open borders and Amnesty and is backing McCain is NOT a true conservative, because no conservative true to his convictions could put such a man in office, even out of fear of the opposing Democrat.

The word has a thousand definitions and so means nothing.
I wonder how difficult communication will be in 20 years after more words are similarly corrupted…
