There is a rumor that Fred Thompson, former Senator from Tennessee, is going to announce an exploratory committee this week.
Regarding immigration, which I consider to be the most important issue, his performance as Senator was rather lackluster. Overall, ABI gives him a career grade of C; on chain migration, C; visa lottery, C-; reducing unnecessary visas, F; on reducing asylum fraud, C-; on reducing amnesties, D; and on interior enforcement, C+. Although he was tough on border control, he was lacking in almost every other area.
To boot, he supports some other left-wing causes, like affirmative action, and supports suicidal free trade policies like those supported by Bush, McCain, the Clintons, and most other globalists. Thompson also is a “fellow” at the neocon American Enterprise Institute.

The more the merrier I guess. Was he getting board with Law and Order or does he think he can do more than play a President on TV or in the movies?

Why did he leave the Senate after just one term?

He served as senator from 1993 until 2003.

If he wants the conservative vote he had better get tough on illegal aliens, a must in my book. His views on the North American Union (NAU) Bush is pusing that will make a single country out of Canada, Mexico and United States is another concern.

Dear Patroon,
The word you are looking for is bored, not board.
Mr. Phillips,
Fred Thompson was elected to the U.S. Senate twice and served from 1994 to 2003.

He was elected to one FULL term, and left after that. Not a problem. I was just asking why?

I read on one of the bio websites, I can’t remember which one, he had intended to run after 9/11, but lost an adult child unexpectedly and therefore decided not to run for anther term. I’m not sure that is full extent of why he decided not to run, just something I read.

Fred Thompson served one full term and part of another when he was **appointed** to the Senate by the Governor of Tennessee
Thompson announced he was going to retire long before 9-11, in fact before Bush even became President … Rumor has it is was because of the corruption in his own Party disgusted him
