In general American Spectator is better than National Review and it is certainly better than the Weekly Standard. Am Spec has some writters who are at least paleo-sympathetic if not paleo and who are not reflex interventionists. Jim Antle and Robert Stacy McCain have both written for TakiMag.
So I was a bit disappointed to see this article on immigration repeating the demonstrably untrue conventional wisdom that a hard-line on immigration costs the GOP votes. But the discussion thread has been very spirited.
As I explain in the thread, too many conservatives are still PC whipped. That is why so many try to innoculate themselves from charges of racism or nativism by emphasizing their opposition to illegal immigration. But illegal and legal immigration are both the problem. The current rate of immigration, both legal and illegal, is unprecedented in American history despite what nation of immigrants mythology would have you believe.
Conservatives need to quit fretting about being called bad names by the PC police. They are NEVER going to win the praise of that crowd so they should quit trying.
