According to The Christian Science Monitor, Rick Warren’s prayer at Obama’s inauguration is a sign of things to come.
I’m not sure about Spencer’s claim that “evangelical investment in moral, social, and political issues was “a mistake”, exactly, but I would agree about the danger of ”believing in a cause more than a faith.”
It seems to me that the problem with the American expression of Christianity is that very few even attempt to develop a cohesive and far-reaching Christian worldview. People embrace the cognitive dissonance of professing Christianity on Sunday while living by the creeds of democratic capitalism & Americanism the other six days of the week.
A Christian vision has to have more implications and mean more than just frowning on gay marriage, abortion, and cussin’ & drinkin’.

It is rather simple actually.
The masses of society do not read much of anything.
The masses of Christianity do not read or know their Bible.
Thus both society and Christianity are an “experiential” based philosophy rather than one of a “reasoned based” philosophy.
When a system is based on the pull of emotion, rather than reason, then the puppeteers of marketing and manipulation will always have a field day. And they are!

Maybe part of the problem is religious pluralism. One example is this guy writing his article in the Christian Science Monitor. The Christian Science label is highly misleading the basis of their beliefs is neither Christian or scientific.

If they’d only frown on sex out of marriage + perversions like sodomy, this unifaith would be somewhat less harmful…
The family institution of course must be destroyed, and so unifaith is directed to be soft on this.
Even if there’s no conspiracy, the individuals involved have an understanding of how the family as an exclusive institution is a roadblock to total individualism and the malleability that could in theory allow for. They must understand this, else why push it? Why else would there be a disagreement?

You beat me to it. I was going to comment on this article.
I agree with your second paragraph. You can’t simultaneously complain that the culture is getting away from Christians and at the same time chide those who were trying to do something about it (however flawed their efforts might have been).
But in general I agree with the article. America is already post Christian in reality if not in number, but we are on an increasingly fast track to becoming REALLY post Christian like Europe. The signs are all around us.

Red,
America becoming post -Christian could be the best thing that ever happened to us IF the next administration refuses to blindly support Israeli aggression like the Judeo-Christian ( emphasis on Judeo) evangelicals have for the last 60 years.
This one sided support ,falsely based on misinterpreted ancient, Bibical covenants, written by Hebrews, is one main reason why the Arabs worldwide now hate America. Our evangelical leaders always back Israel ,right or wrong ! Evangelical leaders are more pro Israel than many American Jews are.
I am pro family and I have good morals. They are based on the golden rule which is NOT exclusive to any one religion.

I can’t find the link, but I was shocked to see how many members of the clergy have signed up to be “Spiritual Leaders” with homeland Security in the event of
Marshall Law”?………. They fully intend to help congregations understand that “Jesus said to obey Ceaser”! Even going as far as to convince christians that they are being relocated to internment camps for their own safety after confiscating their firearms.
“God, Guns, and Country” is becoming “Empire, Multiculturalism, and Obediance”.

Good grief Kris. Talk about not being able to see the forrest for the trees. The pro-West or pro-White Christian phobics who reject Christianity, without which there would be no West as we know it, because they are so obsessed with Jew hate are the worst kind of fools. You may be pro-family and have “good morals,” but good works won’t save your immortal soul. Jesus will.
I don’t have any use for Christians supporting intervention in the name of Israel, but talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water.
