Jim Traficant is Free at Last

I love this guy. I didn’t always agree with him on policy, but Jim Traficant, along with Bob Dornan, made C-SPAN worth watching. Those were the golden days of C-SPAN. Since they left the thing has just “jumped the shark” as they say. Now it’s only worth watching for the occasional Ron Paul speech which you can pick up on YouTube anyway.

I loved the tousled hair (toupee), the rumpled clothes, the skinny ties. Such fashion cluelessness had to be calculated which made it all the more lovable.

I’m not excussing his obvious corruption, but I do think he was singled out for political reasons. Traficant took money on the side but actually tried to represent the people of his district. Other politicians avoid obvious graft but represent special interests often at the expense of the people of their district.

Did he really take money/labour on the side?

As I understood it, he was lynched on trumped up charges and thus made an example of.

Weaver – since he was in poilitics, no doubt he was corrupt in some way. But he was a maverick and fought against the Zionist bankers and Feds – which is why he ended up in prison.

Weaver, the charges were not trumped up. He was guilty of taking payola and rather ham-handly so. There may have been some element of entrapment, and the Feds clearly had it in for him.
