Lou Dobbs is leaving CNN. The question is was he forced out. Or was his situation made so uncomfortable that he had to quit. It has long been rumored that the liberals at CNN were not comfortable with his stance on immigration.

I wonder what he’ll do next.

I think he may seriously be considering a run for the presidency in 2012 – or perhaps some some lower office such as Congress or the Senate.

maybe Fox News?

“maybe Fox News?”
I suspect as an authentic conservative, he’d be too dangerous for them – same with Buchanan.

I just read this:
D B Allyn on 13 Nov 2009 at 1:31 pm #
Dobbs was right on a few issues – immigration, securing the borders, but is an anti-gunner, so he still qualifies as a traitor.
Yes – Fox News would be a great new home for Dobbs.

Dobbs would not get along well at Fox. He vehemently opposed the Iraq War.

Bede,
To my knowledge, so did Napolitano.
Dobbs is far from an “authentic conservative”, though. Economic neorealism and opposition to mass immigration are make-or-break issues for you paleos, I know, but on so many other issues (guns, abortion, gay unions, decentralization to a large extent), Dobbs is far to the left of a Buchanan, even his complete opposite. But apparently that is enough for someone as single-issue on immigration and authoritarianism as Weaver. Dobbs is basically a big-government populist, probably the type that would sooner favor a Chris Dodd-esque reform of the financial sector than Ron Paul’s wholesale liberalization of it.

Dobbs has many problems, granted. I particularly don’t like his views on guns or eduction, but, that said, he’s infinitely better than almost any other mainstream candidate. I’d vote for him in a heartbeat over any of these mainstream clowns in the GOP or Democratic Party.
Immigration is the most important issue facing Western countries today, so, yes, I’d weigh it considerably vis-a-vis other issues.

Oh, Dobbs is for gun control? Hmm, not a fan of that…
D B Allyn on 14 Nov 2009 at 4:32 pm #
Dobbs is a proponent of gun control and frequently speaks of “democracy”. I did appreciate his attempts to bring some valid attention to immigration and the NAU, but otherwise he is just another MSM shill.
Weaver on 16 Nov 2009 at 2:55 pm #
Allyn,
Dobbs’s impressive education aside, a winning politician isn’t going to be very smart, or isn’t going to push intelligent issues.
Who could go against democracy and win?
You mean you fear he’d push it on other countries?

Dobbs has been a hero of mine for awhile. I’m having trouble digesting the possibility that he’s not wonderful, haha.
I’ll listen closely when he gets to talking about the bankers and foreign policy, but on trade and immigration he’s sound.
Weaver on 16 Nov 2009 at 3:01 pm #
Reg. gun control, that’s a major negative. He’s opposed to hate laws at least?
I don’t have cable, so I only watch these people occasionally on youtube. Dobbs has been a vital voice on borders and trade for a long time though.
D B Allyn on 16 Nov 2009 at 5:01 pm #
Seems that Dobbs could have used his platform to inform people about the establishment of our republic and how the founders abhorred democracy (assuming he both understood and agreed).
Not aware of his position regarding int’l bankers, but like yourself, I do not watch CNN/Fox etc on a regular basis – too much wasted time.
