Today the central government of India pledged to form a new state out of India, thus caving in to pressure from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi political party. The state’s name will be Telangana, and this could spark a chain reaction of secessions.
According to wikipedia, Telangana was never ruled by the British. Here’s an idea of the size and location of the new state, which will encompass 10 districts:

The state is not seceding from India, just being permitted by India to secede from the state of Andhra Pradesh, which the region of the new state is currently part of. This is not the emergence of a new independent country and is of minor if any interest to Americans.

No, clearly all the news stories say that this region will secede from its state within India to create a new state. The Indian Home Ministry itself is planning it.

Mr. Higdon,
you might be correct, and I appreciate your pointing this out.
Regardless India is a multiethnic empire, and this is a case of it devolving. Additional new states are wanted in India by other groups, and complete secession might ultimately result.
It’s like Sparta and Athens: Athens put up democracies, and Sparta put up oligarchies. As secessionists, decentralisation movements are potentially beneficial. Ordered, rooted states are preferred to chaotic masses of interchangeable, self-serving cogs.

That’s not to say every secessionist movement is necessarily beneficial…
I hope this ultimately impacts China as well. This could ultimately be significant: another obstacle to globalisation.

India is that which the EU bureaucrats in Brussels wish to turn Europe into. Hopefully India will dissolve quickly enough to save Europe from the same mistake of multinational Empire.

It’s all a conspiracy by the Power Elite to destroy the spirituality and culture of a powerful, religious nation with corrupt immorality and capitalism. They have already infiltrated Mother India. We must not let them destroy her.
