Neoliberal Michael Bloomberg to promote amnesty during third term

Posted under Immigration & NeoCons

NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, having been elected to a third term (at $174 per vote), has pledged to devote his third term to undermining traditional America, including more legal immigration from the Third World and amnesty for illegals already here. In his acceptance speech, he says,

“With leaders from across the country, we will assemble a bipartisan coalition to support President Obama’s call for comprehensive immigration reform that honors our history, upholds our values, and promotes our economy.”

He then prattles on about the need for more legal immigrants, despite the fact that just under 20 million Americans are unemployed and  legal immigrants from the Third World are driving down American wages.

Michael Bloomberg is a liberal who believes in law and order and lower taxes. He supports no neocon initiative like school choice or greater number of charter schools. He may as well be owned by the teachers unions.

In 2001 he was smart enough to realize he could not win the Democrat nomination, so he switched parties and bought the support of GOP leaders. In the nomination, he ran against an actual neoconservative, Herman Badillo. http://www.manhattan-institute.org/html/badillo.htm

Bloomberg technically may be more of a neoliberal than a neoconservative (although there’s very little difference between the two). That said, Bloomberg initially was a strong supporter of the war in Iraq, and has had ties with many prominent neoconservatives (through his membership in CFR and elsewhere).

I’m feeling generous tonight, so, just for our #1 reader RonL, I changed the title from “neocon” to “neoliberal”.

“He then prattles on about the need for more legal immigrants, despite the fact that just under 20 million Americans are unemployed and legal immigrants from the Third World are driving down American wages”

That says it all, does it not? This opinion is near universal amongst pro-immigration fanatics, and it proves (not that more proof was needed) that they are ideologically driven and impervious to reason. The logic is so cold and boldfaced: if 20 million Americans are unemployed, we should NOT import more unemployed (and unskilled) foreigners. It is that simple and inarguable.

Still though – doesn’t make a dent. Unbelievable.
