Rampant anti-Semitism!
HarrisonBergeron2

Posted under Israel & NeoCons & Political Correctness

A long, long time ago, “anti-Semitism” meant hatred of Jews. These days, however, it’s a term of abuse for anyone who doesn’t support Israel’s militant foreign policy, even though that policy has alienated Israel’s former friends and allies, including Turkey.

Pat Buchanan is deemed anti-Semitic by this strange, new criterion. South African Judge Richard Goldstone, the author of a UN report that criticized the Israeli government for attacks on civilians in Gaza, is anti-Semitic, despite being a Jew.

And now Charles Johnson stands accused of being a “Jew hater.” Even the harmless drudge at the neglected Rebellion blog is a “hater” of Jews, according to esteemed political scientist Donald Douglas.

And Donald Douglas knows hate.

Charles Johnson reminds me of a young teenager who is struggling to find his identity. So one week he’s emo, the next week he’s a metal head, and the next week he’s country. So just what is Charles Johnson now? He is a “double minded man, unstable in all his ways.”

For the past week, he’s shown off his comic books.

    Draw you own conclusions.

Comic books can have a strong culture war impact. That might be his draw to them, though American comics seem to be on the [now dominant] “counterculture” side.

Cartoons are the same – Eric Cartman is the new Archie Bunker.

It’s low culture, but it has an impact.

I never read comics until my early 20s – they hadn’t appealed to me when younger for some reason (though I read books like Lord of the Rings, so I did like fantasy…)

I follow Japanese manga now out of culture war interest: Naruto, Bleach, Bakuman, Liar Game, and Nurarihyon no Mago. Naruto and Naruarihyon I especially like with regard to culture – the others for other reasons.

I got into collecting baseball card at one time because my father had collected them and later found them worth a lot of money (or what seemed like a lot at my young age).

Funny thing is, I never actually liked professional baseball. I liked competing in it myself (when younger – switched to another sport later), but I never got into the spectating. I got good at another sport, but I’m still pretty bad at baseball too, lol.

I’m also that 1% who actually likes Rebellion blog. I started using British spelling because of some LofS article informing how Southerners used to use British English spelling before the Yanks corrupted it.

Ah, the British English spelling would have been a long time ago – as early as 2002 I suspect. It was sometime in college anyway… Probably an article written by Dr. Fleming, though not signed by him.

BiT, I am aware of Charles Johnson’s past life and that he is no youngster. That is part of the reason that his shifting political persona is so odd.
