What great fun it’s been watching the Empire and its cheerleaders self-destruct! It all started with left-Neocon Charles Johnson attacking the patriotic conservatives he’d buddied with to support the Neocon Wars. Charles, like Bush and Cheney, welcomed Middle America when cannon fodder was in short supply for the war that would supposedly spark the global democratic revolution. Middle America swallowed their handlers’ lies that these wars supported traditional American values, though people such as Johnson openly despised those values.
As I said at the time, Johnson was never a conservative. He was a leftist promoting war — the ultimate big-government project — to advance a leftist cause.
Now the Neocon purge has ratcheted up yet another notch. Blogger Debbie Schlussel is tossing out accusations that certain pro-war bloggers aren’t sufficiently pro-Israel. In the mind of ideologues, insufficient militancy means apostasy, so Schlussel accused these backsliders of being “anti-Semitic” — a charge aimed at early opponents of the Neocon Wars, including those scary paleoconservatives.
However, Schlussel’s targets have fired back, affirming their faith in the orthodox Neocon doctrine — and the essential tenet of that faith is the centrality of Israel to all that is good and worth fighting for. Here’s how warblogger John Hawkins defended himself from Schlussel:
Yes, the same guy who has written articles like The Moral Superiority Of Israel and Seven Reasons Why Israel Will Never Get a Fair Shake was no different than Hitler in Debbie’s eyes.
Naturally, Charles Johnson, who’s as militant as any Israel Firster, couldn’t sit idle. He pronounced Schlussel as “mentally ill.”
Like I said, what fun!
The French Revolution had its terror, the Soviet Union its purge, and Red China its Cultural Revolution. Now the Neocons, just the latest batch of militant ideologues whose revolution is consuming its young, have their own purge.
Have at it, fellas. It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.

I have long spoken out against the use of mental health terms to describe one’s opponents in a political battle, and I stand by that. But Debbie Schlussel really is unhinged. Perhaps not in a mentally ill way, but in the way that the worst sort of fanatics are. She can broach absolutely no dissent on Israel and ANY dissent is tantamount to wanting to fire up the gas chambers. If you think I’m exaggerating read her stuff. It is unnerving. She is like a caricature of the hyper-sensitive Israeli backer. She makes Dershowitz and Foxman seem like rational moderates.

For there to be terror, there must be repercussions. Schlussel has cried wolf far too many times and has a tendency to exaggeration. This isn’t about Israel or anything other than Schlussel’s ego and propensity to personalize policy differences.
Judging neoconservatives for Schlussel or a non-conservative like Johnson is like judging paleoconservatives for Paul Craig Robert’s lunacy or the rantings of a fascist.

You’re right. Free Republic is another good example. The most tepid criticism of Israel will unleash cries of “anti-Semitism!” and “It’s the Joooooos!” But it’s not only okay to call for the extermination of Muslims; it’s the patriotic thing to do.

Of course, there’s no comparison between a small-government paleocon and a totalitarian fascist, so the “rantings of a fascist” cannot in any way reflect on the paleoconservative world view.
My point is that the “Israel-First” yardstick can only lead to disaster for Americans. Debbie Schlussel is just the most extreme proponent — so far.

HB2- Ive been looking around for some of those ” Traditional American Values” you spoke about and couldnt find any. Our
Nation has been rushing down the road to complete immorality
for 2 generations now, and with the help of the enternet and
R rated television and films we have completed the task of
completely corrupting our youth. all that was left was dumbing
them down by public schools so they would be too stupid to vote,
so if there is any hope for America please let us know as there
isnt much time.

No doubt things look bad, and I get as down as anybody as I survey the sickness that’s taken over this country.

The reason for hope is that the homosexual lobby, multiculturalism, and the rejection of Western, Christian civilization are all being rammed through by a powerful central government — it’s not a natural phenomenon.
I am convinced that when the DC Empire collapses, a more natural human order will take its place. Today’s mores are totally artificial, and will vanish once their authors and promoters inevitably fall.
