Operation Opera II – The Israeli attack upon Iran

This guest submission comes to us from SARTRE at the website BATR:

The worse kept secret is the joint plans of Israel and their American stooges for a sneak attack on Iran. Succumbing to the militaristic legacy of imperial Japan, the joint chiefs of staff are ready to facilitate or even lead a stealth charge against purported WMD targets. So what is their rationale? Since the deadly weapon facilities could not be found in Iraq, maybe they will be found in Iran? If Iran was ready to develop nuclear weapons, how is that any different from Israel already deploying 200 plus warheads? Especially since the Zionist belligerent is poised to strike Iran in a repeat of their “Operation Opera” against the Iraqi Osirak reactor in 1981.

In the most delusional and warped minds of hardened Christian Zionist supporters of the ultimate terrorist state, Israel can do no wrong. How could such an act of undeclared war benefit the American nation? The neocon hijacking of an American First foreign policy is the demented legacy of the Bush presidencies. The Obama administration is no different. The War Party mindset remains the dominate force that defends the Zionist rogue regime that is bent upon an apocalyptic holocaust of their own making.

Muriel Mirak-Weissbach in Israel’s Insane War on Iran Must Be Prevented, argues for restraint.

“Clearly, Israel will not make good on its threats without a nod from Washington. And that is not there yet, at least not officially. After talks with Barak and Israel’s military chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi in Jerusalem, Sen. McCain indicated the time had not yet come. “I don’t believe we are at the point of making that kind of decision, nor is the Israeli government,” he said, “given the state that Iran is in now as far as the development of their nuclear weapons is concerned.” When asked by Fox News whether he had discussed the military option with Obama, Netanyahu danced around the issue, but reiterated his conviction that Iran must be made to fear such an option. And Obama? He coined a most curious formulation, Israel’s “unique security requirements,” and pledged “unwavering … commitment to Israel’s security.” When interviewed July 8 for the first time on Israeli television, Obama indicated the two governments would consult with one another, not act unilaterally. “I think the relationship between Israel and the U.S.,” he said, “is sufficiently strong that neither of us try to surprise each other.”

An impending forecast from an unlikely confederation, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), offers up this warning to President Obama.

Israel’s leaders would calculate that once the battle is joined, it will be politically untenable for you to give anything less than unstinting support to Israel, no matter how the war started, and that U.S. troops and weaponry would flow freely. Wider war could eventually result in destruction of the state of Israel.

This can be stopped, but only if you move quickly to pre-empt an Israeli attack by publicly condemning such a move before it happens.

Netanyahu believes he holds the high cards, largely because of the strong support he enjoys in our Congress and our strongly pro-Israel media. He reads your reluctance even to mention in controversial bilateral issues publicly during his recent visit as affirmation that he is in the catbird seat in the relationship.

During election years in the U.S. (including mid-terms), Israeli leaders are particularly confident of the power they and the Likud Lobby enjoy on the American political scene.”

The likelihood is that a pre-emptive airstrike will be precipitated by the Israeli demand that the full support and might of the U.S. military be committed to the campaign. VIPS concludes,   “Sadly, our former colleagues tell us that politicization of intelligence analysis did not end with the departure of Bush and Cheney…and that the problem is acute even at the State Department’s Bureau of Intelligence and Research, which in the past has done some of the best professional, objective, tell-it-like-it-is analysis.” Such counsel goes unheeded within the foreign policy establishment, which is controlled by “Zealot Zionists”

Even the notorious Trilateral Commission globalist, Zbigniew Brzezinski acknowledges the destructive influence of the Israeli lobby. In Foreign Affairs, From Hope to Audacity he states, “Special interest lobbies have become overly influential in US politics. Thanks to their access to Congress, a variety of lobbies — some financially well endowed, some backed by foreign interests — have been promoting, to an unprecedented degree, legislative intervention in foreign-policy making.” While his designs on global dominance invite a world conflagration, his distrust of Zionist pre-eminence is accurate.

So why allow dragging America into another war for a greater Israel? The thoughtful Paul Craig Roberts once again has it correct:

“The answer is that the Israel Lobby, the US military-security complex, and the “Christian” Zionists have succeeded in demonizing Iran. Every real expert knows that an Iranian nuclear weapon would have no function other than deterring an attack on Iran. Ever since the US lost its monopoly on nuclear weapons, after using them offensively and pointlessly against a defeated Japan, nuclear weapons have served no purpose other than deterrence. ”

The US has no conflicting economic interests with Iran. Iran is simply a supplier of oil, an important one. A US attack on Iran, such as the one advocated by Kuperman, would most likely shut down oil flows to the West through the Strait of Hormuz. This might benefit refiners, who sell gasoline to the West and could charge enormous prices, but no one else would benefit.

Adding to the war cry are congregations of fake Christians. A great number of them, organized by someone’s money under the banner, “Christian Leaders for a Nuclear-free Iran,” has written to Congress demanding sanctions against Iran that amount to an act of war.”

This mad American foreign policy, dominated by dual loyalties, is a destructive force bent on an imperial and perverse allegiance under the Star of David. BATR resident Iranian expert Rev. Mark Dankof demonstrates a rational and balanced perspective. Written during the first Bush administration, Mr. Dankof’s words ring just as true, today.

“The United States cannot reasonably insist upon Iranian submission to IAEA inspection and potential dismantlement of militarily-related nuclear programs without insisting upon the application of the same standard to the government of Israel, its Dimona nuclear-weapons production plant, and its Institute of Biological Sciences and Research in Tel Aviv, among other operations and sites in that country that meet neither IAEA standards nor those of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPF). The notion that Tehran has no right or legitimate claim to Weapons of Mass Destruction while the regime of international war criminal Ariel Sharon does, is morally and politically unsustainable.”

When the Wall Street Journal reports, “Some Israeli officials worry a unilateral strike would cause a break with Washington that would threaten Israeli national interests even more than a nuclear-armed Iran”, loyal and true  American conservatives have reason to rejoice. Pressure to stop the lunacy of another aggressive war from within Israel from Jews of moral character is a welcome development. But is that the real motive of these Israeli officials or do they just sense that Bebe Netanyahu is a mad bomber that is more dangerous than a boastful Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

Who is more likely to use nuclear weapons? Since the American empire has already answered that question and Israel has threatened the entire region and parts of Europe with atomic annihilation, what right do they have to claim the high moral ground?

There is no existential threat to America from Iran. In addition, there is no beneficial interest or intrinsic security for the United States in fighting Israeli wars. The true moral imperative is to cut ties with Zionism and condemn the sociopathic arrogance that adheres to the superiority of the tribe over the rest of humanity. Khazars professing Talmudic duplicity are the cause of the pending Middle East Armageddon.

Robert Parry sums up the actual motivation that subverts a constructive American foreign policy.

“The neocon/Likud hope would be that these military attacks would embolden Iran’s internal opposition to rise up and overthrow the Islamic system that has governed Iran since 1979, in other words, “regime change.” Much like the neocon/Likud thinking about Iraq, however, these grandiose plans often end up with unpredictable and bloody outcomes”.

Another “Operation Opera” will bring a widespread conflict that invites Russian and Chinese inclusion. Even Fidel Castro warned of an impending nuclear holocaust, “If Obama approves an attack on Iran, he added, he will trigger a war that will spread through the Middle East and Asia and cause “the instantaneous death of hundreds of millions people, among them an incalculable number of people in his own country.”

Patriotic Americans must break with Israel and become vocal in their denunciation of Zionist designs to subjugate the region under a deceptive banner. Israel is not a trusted ally of the United States. Warmongering is tantamount to national suicide. The public needs to act before the bombs drop. No one can say that they had no idea what was about to happen. The fat lady is rehearsing her voice. Before she starts singing with sharpened spears, shout out your dissent.

I don’t understand why anyone refers to Israel as a ‘terrorist state’. It’s just asking not to be taken seriously.

The US warring with Iran is one of my litmus tests: if it happens I’m going to seriously consider emigrating.

While it’s true that Israel has Nuclear weapons, they dont constantly warn Iran of future distruction. Since 1948 the only thing that has kept Israel alive is by being the baddest military on the block, Reasonable leaders all know that if Iran as well as others in the area had their way the Jewish State would be no more. Israel is losing support by the minute and knows she has to stop Iran from becoming Nuclear, the only question is, does Israel have the Balls.
If your a Jew or Christian you know the Bible tells of a day when all Nations will come against Jerusalem to do battle, remember the Bible says Bless them that Bless the Jew and curse them that curse the Jew, so be careful what you say.

My head hurts reading this. Are you trying to destroy the credibility of the paleo or traditional movement with this silly rot?

Iran’s nuclear program is quite open. They are enriching uranium past the point needed for civilian uses. They refused an offer of cheap refined uranium that would be under Russian control. They are openly developing ICBMs.

Nothing would guarantee WWIII more than Iranian nukes. It has already lead to Saudi and Egyptian nuclear programs.
And with multiple nuclear nations in the region, it just Tel Aviv that is toast, NYC and DC are too. It suddenly becomes rational for Iran to nuke us using Hizbollah. They can rationally believe that tracing the bomb would be difficult and given the uncertainties we would not retaliate.
In turn, this would lead to a massive nuclear war.
And putting aside the threat to the US, Iran would gladly use Hizbollah to nuke Israel. This would also lead to theater wide nuclear war.

But the truth is worse. Iran is not a rational country. President Rafsanjani made this clear years ago when he said
“If a day comes when the world of Islam is duly equipped with the arms Israel has in its possession, the strategy of colonialism would face a stalemate because application of an atomic bomb would not leave anything in Israel but the same thing would just produce damages in the Muslim world.”

And this doesn’t even begin to deal with the idea of the Twelvers who think that the Mahdi will come only when the Islamic world is purified by fire. Some of them think a nuclear exchange would be a precursor to their bloody messianic era.

So the issues is not whether war, but when. It is far more moral to act now, when casualties would be low.

As for Russia and China, why actually risk Moscow and Beijing for a nuclear Tehran. Sure they support Iran’s campaign to weaken us. But they don’t want a nuclear Iran. Both have rebellious domestic Muslim populations who they occupy , subjugate and colonize.

So how many millions of Americans and Europeans (to say nothing of Israelis) are you willing to trade to say “ha ha” to neoconservatives? Just how big of an oil shock and energy crisis are you willing to gamble for schadenfreude?

Sorry, but the Khazar theory has been disproven by genetics and you have never cracked open the Talmud. I have forgotten more about both than you will ever know. Sartre needs to stop using big words to sound knowledgeable, it’ll bite him in the behind.

And Dankof is an Islamic tool whose entire schtick is to attack Jews. No wonder he works for Iran.

Great article! If there is one silver lining to the otherwise disastrous Obama Adm. it is his non deference to the insane paranoid militaristic death cult of the neo-con Zionist lobby. Israel is the only country I know of that can elect terrorists to its highest office, thumb its nose at International law and UN resolutions, commit war crimes and human rights abuses, occupy its neighbors, threaten war against its regional neighbors, slander its neighbors in order to justify its aggression etc. and still be considered by the US and some of its religious leaders as a dear friend! What a disgrace. It’s no wonder the USA is hated in the Middle East. This is a textbook example of the entangled alliances we were warned against.

“Israel is the only country I know of that can… ”
Look up Turkey and China. For that matter, the US.

You want to a be an isolationist and imagine that Iran doesn’t want to nuke you, fine. You want to make the UN arbiter of rules and declare taht occupation (not actually the case) , bellicosity, and colonization are bad? Stop undermining the US.

RonL needs to stop looking for commies under the bed and face the facts. Those facts being, the IAEA has one of the most rigorous inspection regimens applied to Iran itself, and that there is nothing much sinister at all about its program. Iran’s program is for civilian nuclear power, within its rights, as guaranteed to it by the NPT.

Could Iran use the processed uranium in its possession for a nuclear bomb? Yes. BUT, that would require diversion of the enriched material, a fact which would be verified by the IAEA. Until such time that such a diversion takes place, or the IAEA is ejected, there is no need for concern. Enriching uranium to the point where it can be used for a bomb and then manufactured into such a bomb will take anything from three to five years (American estimates). I assume that America and Israel could cook up a strike on Iran given three to five years notice?

On the other hand, if folks like RonL get their way, and attack Iran, they are guaranteeing not only a major regional war that will not be resolved via air attacks alone, but which will require an invasion of Iran proper, a step which I do not believe America intends to take or can take, either.

Not only that, but by attacking Iran for weapons which they do not possess removes every rational constraint on them for not making nukes. It seems logical that the Iranian government, if attacked, would engage in an accelerated program to make nuclear weapons.

The message an attack on Iran would send is that no country is safe from the US unless it possesses nuclear weapons, something which North Korea has amply demonstrated.

I am not an American and from where I stand, American foreign policy does not look pretty.

Here’s something else to consider, written by Zbigniew Brzezinski:

“[The Russians] also know in the back of their heads that if worse came to worse-and I am not saying they are deliberately promoting the worst-but if worse came to worse, which is an American-Iranian military collision, who would pay the highest price for that? First, America, whose success in ending the Cold War the Russians still bitterly resent. And we would also pay a high price in Iraq, Afghanistan, and massively so with regards to the price of oil. Second, who would suffer the most? The Chinese, who the Russians view as a long-range threat and of whom they are very envious, because the Chinese get much more of their oil from the Middle East than we do, and the skyrocketing price would hurt them even more than us. Third, who would then be totally dependent on the Russians? The West Europeans. And fourth, who would cash in like crazy? The Kremlin. ”

    I would add to this:

If Brzezinski is correct, and that this is the situation that would develop, then I would add that it is quite possible that Russia would slip Iran enough aid to drag out a conflict as long as possible, particularly if it is cashing in as he thinks it will. How would the US respond to that? Could it afford another Vietnam?

Attacking Iran is a very bad idea.

The only threats the Iranians have made are those of self defense if attacked. They have the same right to nuclear power and weapons(if they actually want them) as any other country. This is no cause for war. The Zionist need to get a conscience. It is the blind support of Israel that undermines the USA. They should be the object of sanctions and embargoes, not Iran.

    Matt,

Israel is referred to as a terrorist state because Israel commits acts of terrorism. Lots of them. They always have, sometimes against their neighbors, sometimes against the British and sometimes against the USA. Look up their attack against the USS Liberty on youtube.

Israel is the only nation I know that has elected terrorists as prime ministers. (plural)

    Believer,
No nation has blessed Israel more than the USA since 1948. Obviously that part about blessing the ones that bless Israel has not worked out too well for us. It could be because God did not write the Bible, Jews did. Meanwhile Jews hurt America by running our state department in the best interest of Israel , not America. They own our banking system and most of our media which is currently beating the war drums for an attack on Iran.

We can’t afford another war for Israel. America can’t take much more of their blessings !

  11. RonL on 20 Aug 2010 at 4:04 am #

    Bruno,
The IAEA inspects when and where Iran wanted. And Iran is processing to a higher level than needed for civilian use. It has also refused subsidized processed uranium. At the same time it is developing ICBMS. http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iran/missile/index.html
They also have an open declared goal of weapons to destroy the Great and Little Satans. The only logical conclusion is a nuclear arms program.
Show me where the logic is wrong.

“Until such time that such a diversion takes place, or the IAEA is ejected, there is no need for concern. Enriching uranium to the point where it can be used for a bomb and then manufactured into such a bomb will take anything from three to five years (American estimates). I assume that America and Israel could cook up a strike on Iran given three to five years notice?”
That is assuming that Iran has told the IAEA about all of its facilities and stockpiles. So why wait 5 years, until a pre-emptive attack become pointless? You don’t stop a nuclear program the day before its Trinity test. You stop it years before.

“Not only that, but by attacking Iran for weapons which they do not possess removes every rational constraint on them for not making nukes. It seems logical that the Iranian government, if attacked, would engage in an accelerated program to make nuclear weapons.”
An attack only hastens the inevitable? Hit them harder.

“The message an attack on Iran would send is that no country is safe from the US unless it possesses nuclear weapons, something which North Korea has amply demonstrated.”
    Have we attacked Libya? Nope.
And we didn’t pre-empt North Korea, because they already had 2 deterrence capabilities
    1. Thousands of artillery pieces and rockets within range of Seoul.
    2. ChiCom protection.

As for Russian aid to Iran, that assumes conventional invasion. No one is calling for that.

  12. RonL on 20 Aug 2010 at 4:08 am #

Do you hate Israel more than you love the US? Because the Iranians have called for our destruction. And a nuclear Iran will lead to a nuclear attack on us. http://nycright.blogspot.com/2010/08/nuclear-iran-means-nuked-american-city.html

    Bruce,
The Lavon affair was terrorism. The attack on the USS Liberty was a blue on gray attack during war. It has been investigated multiple times and the tapes from the incident are now public.

“Israel is the only nation I know that has elected terrorists as prime ministers. (plural)”
Ireland doesn’t exist? And the British never saw Washington or Madison as terrorists?
Stop undermining the US out of hatred of Israel. It’s pathetic.

  13. Dave K on 20 Aug 2010 at 4:41 am #

“the Iranians have called for our destruction”. The Iranians have never talked of genocide. They wish to see an end to evil regimes or governments which kill the innocent and trample on the rights of others. They have not threatened Jewish or American people, they resist their Godless governments’ policies. They only speak of defending themselves if attacked. We American’s talk incessantly of our wishes to see the end of the Castro regime or of Chavez in Venezuela, yet that is never attributed to us as a genocidal wish. Frankly, I would also LOVE to see the end of the US government as it exists today. Its foreign policy is as evil as it is insane.

Why is the world barking on israel. They have the right to live on their land afterall, and get recognized as a nation. If everybody is relying on history to judge every case then the Jewish people has a strong and long history done on the land they are living today more than any other people !
