I am glad Rand Paul won, and I am more inclined than some here to give him the benefit of the doubt, but did anyone see his victory speech? He invoked American exceptionalism. This was disappointing and totally unnecessary.

The trends in the South and Midwest are positive. The Democrat Party is dead in the South on a statewide basis. They are pretty much limited (with a few exceptions) to representing districts that are drawn for them. In my state of Georgia, the Republicans swept every statewide office.

Tancredo is good on immigration, but baaaaad on foreign policy. As long as we have endless wars, we’ll have an intrusive government that conducts citizen surveillance, denies habeas, etc.
Plus, after every Third-World intervention, we get massive immigration from the attacked country.

Lou Barletta was definitely the highlight of the night for me.

HB2, as a state governor Tancredo would have had little if anything to do with foreign policy. Plus I suspect Tancredo is more teachable than some. At the time that Tanc made his most inflammatory foreign policy statements, most all “conservatives” felt the same way. It was only the select few of us who were already non-interventionists. But Tanc has good associates (like the Buchanans) so some of that good sense has likely rubbed off on him.
