Posted under Iraq & Ron Paul & The South
The owner of the site, John Hawkins, is very hawkish. He was quoted in the National Review article on Ron Paul and called him a “kook.” See these threads.

I have posted a few comments. Let’s let Mr. Hawkins feel some pro-Ron Paul heat. Registration is required to post.
I had a run in with this site last year. John Hawkins posted some ignorant and derogatory slurs against the League of the South. He is not an authentic conservative, and properly understood he is not right-wing. (Nationalism is a leftist concept.) He is a nationalistic, militaristic, Statist. I pointed that out to him and his posters in the LoS comment thread, and it was like talking to the wall.

You mean Left Wing News? As time goes on, I have less and less use for it and its beloved neoconosphere running mate, Crud State.

While nationalism can be used towards leftist ends, there is nothing inherently leftist about supporting ones nation-state over ones regional government.
In fact, one could make a case that nationalism is far more conservative.
The former is a cultural and historic element, whereas the latter is often a cartographic construct.
St. Louis, your language belies your handle. Can we have a little maturity?

I went to this so called right wing site and found it to be one of the worst to navigate…It is terrible! Geez … Anyway this “KOOK” Hawkins is where wikepedia found its definitions from for the term: “Propaganda”
.

Ron, I think nationalism is used to justify the modern state. Localism is the more natural affinity. Are we citizens of the world or citizens of the US first? Are we citizens of the Western Hemisphere or the US first? Likewise we should be citizens of our States before we are citizens of the US. This was commonly accepted before Lincoln’s invasion especially in the South and especially by other than the arch-Federalists. Recall Lee, who originally opposed secession, said he could not raise his sword against his State. Here is how the League of the South puts it.
“Our strongest and most enduring earthly affections and allegiances are to those people and places closest to us-family, friends, neighbors, villages, towns, cities, counties, and States. Conversely, our weakest attachments are to far-off abstractions such as “the nation,” “the environment,” or the “global community.”"

Red;
Glad you have your own blog now as I don’t see enough of you on the Chronicles wb section.
RE: nationalism
Nationalism is a useful political tool to protect sovereignty, but as we know, and I you cover this point, it can be used in politics for many anti-conservative measures, at the least, measures not in the interest of the Middle Class.
As to this specific piece by Mr.Hawkins which is an attack from the Left of Dr.Paul, coincidentally timed with Joe Farah’s rant which seem to attack Paul from the Right, we see an interesting dividing line from the Conditioners.
Mr.Hawkins, in service of Duncan Hunter, calls the North American Union ‘stuff’ hogwash, which might indicate he is building a bridge to Fred Thompson (member CFR) for Republican conservatives, such as they are, using the political tools available to him, “nationalism” and specifically, “militarist nationalism” while defending the Establishment.
Farah, on the other side, is building a bridge to Jerome Corsi who will likely win the Constitution Party nomination to scoop the disenchanted, non-aligned ‘conservatives’ and will position himself and Corsi as against the Establishment.
Paul is a threat to the Conditioners, so they call out the Third Tier propagandists, and with the Soros CREW and a Green Party Presidential candidate going after Paul this week, we see even the Institutional Left is scared of Paul.
All the while, Paul gets front page coverage last Saturday in the Washington Post (thank you Michael Scheurer and the Company.)

Our second Symposium tackles the big questions of nationalism from both a historical and theoretical perspective.
