Keith Olbermann is the epitome of the Blue America elitist white person. He oozes condescension and contempt for us unwashed white folks in flyover country.
He was suspended indefinitely without pay after his political contributions came to light. (MSNBC prohibits its “journalists” from making political contributions.) It should shock no one that he gave to Rand Paul’s opponent, Jack Conway, and two liberal candidates for the House in Arizona. You can see his mind working with these contributions. He was going to punish Rand Paul for the thoughtcrime of wanting to follow the Constitution as intended and those evil know-nothing white folks in Arizona who don’t want their state invaded by illegal aliens.
This comes on the heels of criticism MSNBC was already receiving for its election night coverage.
One of the things that is particularly puzzling about Olbermann is that he used to be a sportscaster. Who does Olbermann think watches SportsCenter, liberal Blue America effetes? It was the Red Americans in flyover country that he so despises who were the bulk of his audience.
There will always be liberals, and while I don’t agree with it, I don’t so much begrudge his liberalism as I do the contempt for his co-ethnics in Middle America that virtually drips from his every commentary. It has not always been so. Liberals used to have a somewhat paternalistic attitude (perhaps equally condescending but not contemptuous) toward Middle America. But Olbermann and his ilk don’t feel sorry for Middle America and want to improve their lot in life. He hates them because they dare to resist liberal groupthink.
How did it come to this? What creates a self-loather like Olbermann and his ilk?
