Episcopal Church Says Conservative Critics are the Cause of its Problems, Not the Abandonment of Scripture

The Episcopal Church is trying to blame conservative critics for the fact that it is hemorrhaging membership, instead of looking inward at the real cause: they have completely abandoned Scripture and ceased to be Christian in any real sense.

The Institute on Religion & Democracy (IRD) says it is under attack from the Episcopal Church Diocese of New York. The General Convention of that diocese said in a statement it will consider a resolution to “assess the threat to religious freedom posed by the activities of the IRD and related groups.”

Perhaps the Episcopal Church should quit fretting about their “religious freedom” (it is laughable that it is threatened) and start getting their house back in Biblical order. They should start by defrocking open heretics like Shelby Spong and open homosexuals like V. Gene Robinson.

The Episcopal Church has been rotten since at least the 1970′s. Real conservatives left and went to other denominations or the continuuing Anglican Churches back then.

The Episcopal Church, the church of much of the “founding stock” of this Country, is an embarrassment.

I’m an Episcopalian (most of the time I prefer the term Anglican), and I couldn’t agree more with the main post, as well as with Bruce and Bill Fanning. Unfortunately, some of us don’t have any other good options, so we bite our lips, do a lot of wincing, but keep being faithful in liturgy, practice, and prayer. Our local parish is mostly tolerable … so far.

When a church conforms to societal beliefs how can it proclaim to be legitiment? If a church is losing membership, what is the cause? When leaders of a church start believing what a secular society wants it will collapse. People want to believe in something eternal not the flavor of the month.

Many state that the Catholic Church is losing membership because they will not bow to the secular beliefs. The truth is the Catholic Church continues to grow, more people come into the church than leave.
