Want to know how our efforts in Afghanistan are being appreciated by the Afghans themselves? Well one of our erstwhile allies whom we were sent to liberate repaid us with killing nine U.S. servicemen in cold blood. I’m glad to see they’re so greatful as to shoot us. Here we are putting our lives on the frontline just so Afghans can kill us in the back. And get this, you’re paying for it!
Just come home.

I think there’s been 20+ servicemen killed in this manner in Afghanistan since the beginning of the year. Just come home indeed.

The article provided very little data to show us the working class/middle class divide is greater than the black/white divide. For example, how does the gap between working class & middle class rates of illegitimacy compare with the gap between black and white (around 50 percentage points, I believe) rates of illegitimacy? Is the working class/middle class gap really larger than 50 percentage points ?
The article supposses it’s telling us something new and shattering stereotypes (“letting the cat out of the bag”). Like we don’t know there’s a lot of white trash and they’re getting worse. No s___, Sherlock/Milloy/Murray! And who carries around stereotypes of inherently virtuous and industrious whites these days anyway? What a strawman. The whole article’s full of fallacious arguments. Yeah, there’s so many people extolling the virtues of working class whites and ridiculing blacks. Yeah, I see that all the time! Yes, I see brown and black people used as scapegoats all the time because anyone with eyes sees that both whites and mainstream publications feel free to say bad things about brown and black people whenever they want !!!
My uncle has 4 illegitimate kids with his common law wife and bums off the government and my poor, elderly grandmother. Of course, he’s never gone up to an innocent young girl sitting at a desk and dry-humped her head so I guess I still see a kind of divide. And he’s the father of all 4 of her kids rather than one of four fathers.
And common sense suggests that any sane person would choose working class Pepin over working class Detroit any day even if the Detroit houses are cheaper.

So said Karl Marx, but he was wrong.
This is how the leftist media interpret Murray’s article but it’s not what Murray says. He says that lower-class whites are beginning to act like blacks in some ways (illegitimacy). Note, though, that the data for lower-class whites even in these areas nowhere reach the numbers for blacks. Also, in others respects, the white-black divide (in terms of IQ, standardized test scores, or crime) is just as wide as ever.
Also, history just doesn’t bear out that “the racial divide isn’t as great as the classist divide.” It all depends.
As many others have argued, only in racially homogenous societies has class become of overwhelming importance. When all people are all alike racially, then they will self-segregate via class.
But in multi-ethnic societies, race will trump class. Think Yugoslavia. Nearly 50 years of Marxist propaganda telling everyone that class is fundamental and when the gov. teeters, people quickly divide by ethnicity (not class).
I can give many other examples from recent history.
As Jerry Z. Muller said in a recent piece at Foreign Affairs, the vast majority of world conflict is along ethnic (not class) lines. This was even true during the Cold War:
